Yeah...I have to imagine that Belichick isn't all that unhappy about that either. He's absolutely deadly when seeing teams for a second time in a season. I don't see Burress getting 11 catches for 154 yards against the Patriots. In fact, I thought both the Packers and the Giants looked pretty pitiful and in spite of a sub-par performance by Brady, the Patriots beat a pretty strong San Diego team.

I'm betting that the Super Bowl opens in the 12-13 point range.

No reason the GIants (who I hate) can't give the Pats a game if Eli stays away from mistakes and the D stops the running of Maroney. I'd think winning 4 straight in the playoffs would be really difficult, but as much as I despise the Giants, I hate Belechik that much more and to see the Pats lose would be great-their undefeated season would mean nothing. Who would've thought that the last regular season game was a Super Bowl preview?
P.S.
I thought Coughlin did a brilliant job not benching his starters in the final game vs. New England-they played their asses off and look what it got them. Eli's confidence from that game went through the roof.

P - A - T - S...Pats, Pats, Pats! (Sorry DanO!)

As far as hating goes, I'm really tired of hearing about the 1972 Dolphins this year. I think Shula has made an utter ass out of himself on more than one occasion. If the Patriots can win the Super Bowl, hopefully the whole 1972 Dolphins thing will fade from view a bit.

Even though I'm thrilled, I have to admit I didn't expect this. The Giants opened the season with back-to-back losses, to the Cowboys and Packers no less, giving up 80 points in the process. There were some signs of dissension in the ranks. They then reeled off 6 wins in a row, putting them into contention, but another loss to Dallas showed they weren't ready to play with the Big Boys. I figured they would make the playoffs, but weren't going to make much noise, and Eli had yet to prove he was a big-game QB. The hideous Sunday-night loss to Washington in December left them on life-support, but in a rousing comeback against Buffalo the next week, Eli became a different player, and had a stellar performance against the Pats in a close loss in the final regular-season game.

Now, they've avenged those losses to the Cowboys and Packers, winning 10 straight road games! Perhaps it's destiny that they get another shot at the Pats. :yay:

Hopefully the Jints will be somewhat loose (if that's possible in the Super Bowl). They have zero pressure on them and the world wouldn't be shocked if they lost 42-10. However, if the Pats manage to lose this game it would be a complete and utter disaster for them. Their whole season up in flames.

I don't think it will happen, but I can dream...

It seems every year its the Red Sox vs the Yankees so why wouldn't we expect New England vs. NY/NJ in football?

What is in the water up there in Boston? :D

I'm sick of the Dolphins too. It will be nice not to have to listen to those jugheads any more. I heard on ESPN that in 1972 the Dolphins only played 4 teams with winning records all year long. This year, the Pats beat 8 playoff teams, not to mention the Browns who just missed. If the Pats win the Super Bowl, it should put to rest any question about which team was better.

I've been amazed how well the Giants have been playing lately. They've always been the most schizophrenic team in the NFL.....and now they are giant killers (no pun intended). :D

is there any way BOTH teams can lose? I don't know whats worse for me (a Rams fan) living in the NY area with Giants fans for the next 12 months, or Boston fans getting even more arrogant.

Seriously, Pat's are hard to stay with for a full 60 minutes, Giants secondary is weak & Pats are smart enough to exploit any Giants attempts to blitz. The match up doesn't look good, but The matchups in Dallas & Green Bay didn't look good either and Jacksonville & San Diego didn't embarrass themselves @ NE

In typical Patriots Superbowl style Giants will rally to tie then Brady will march them down for a game ending FG........ NE 27 Gia 24

my friend in vegas tells me they are betting the hell out of the giants. the line went from 14 to 12 in 5 days. to move a super bowl line 2 points requires a lot of money.

also, the celtics could win the NBA.

has any city ever won all three (MLB-NFL-NBA) in the same year?

renny

Jordin Sparks,American Idol 2007 winner, will sing the National Anthem.
With Ryan Seacrest as "host", and Paula Abdul scheduled to perform pre-game, this years entertainment features a decidedly Idol theme, which should please the many Idol fans that post here.

Sparks has a very good voice.I'm sure she'll do a fine job.
I wonder how Tom Petty's American Idol audition would have gone.

New York came very close to winning all three championships within one year:

NFL: The Jets won Super Bowl III (January 1969) for the 1968 regular season.

MLB: The Mets won the 1969 World Series (October 1969).

NBA: The Knicks won the championship (May? 1970) for the 1969-1970 regular season.

I don't think New York should qualify there as they have 2 teams in every league except the NBA, and the Nets pretty much count too as they're moving back to NY.

I'd say that you could similarly discount my old hometown of Chicago, but the White Sox and Cubs have been so pitiful for so long, that discounting Chicago because of them seems unfair.

That post made me chuckle, so, OK, Chicago is off the hook. Back to the 4 team cities, since we haven't had a championship in Philly since 1983 ( the AHL Phantoms, MISL Kixx and MLL Wings do not count), I must envy ANY city that gets a championship in ANY year. We are the city of losers in Philly, and though the Flyers are looking good this year, it ain't gonna happen-we suck!
