I love the Blue Aeroplanes! At first I was put off by Gerard Langley's beat-poet, half-spoken vocals, but they were truly a fun band to listen to! At one point, everyone in the group wanted to play guitar. They recorded some great tunes, and were fairly prolific with a lot of cool b-sides (you gotta love a band that credits the dancer, Wojtek, in all the liner notes). In the mid- to late-90's, they released a live album, a concept album called "Cavaliers" (which came with a second disc that rounded up a few loose ends), and a rarities comp called "Weird Shit". Then nothing, until 2006 when EMI issued "Swagger DELUXE", a 2-disc remaster with a second CD of b-sides, unreleased songs, demos, etc. You definitely need to hunt that one down! Also in 2006, they put out a new studio disc entitled "Altitude", which took like five years to record and release. Not their best, but certainly worth a listen. In 2007, they released a covers album called "Harvester" on EMI, where they performed songs made popular on the Harvest label by Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Wire, et al. Now, I need to go listen to "Yr Own World", and their cover of Paul Simon's "The Boy In The Bubble"!
