The Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus 3D concert film Best of Both Worlds, which opened on Friday, raked in $29 million over the weekend, clobbering The Eye and the rest of the box office competition. It played in only 638 theaters, for an astounding per-screen average of $42,500--half of that would qualify any movie as a big hit. Granted, most theaters charge more for 3D movies, but it still is impressive.

One thing I don't get....why did they run it this week. In 2 weeks the kiddies are off from school in most places up here in the Northeast. They would make a killing during all that kid downtime. I bet kids would see 2 or 3 times during that week.

The way its setup now is the theaters will be empty during the school hours next week. Not that I'm going at that time. :D

True, but this way they get to show it on Super Bowl Sunday. I bet they are going to make a HAUL today. Mom and the kids see Hannah, Dad watches Giants/Pats with the boys. My wife and little one went this morning at 10:50 and they loved it. $15 per ticket. Wait until the 3D DVD with bonus features comes out. Mo money mo money mo money!
