I was able to secure a few tickets for my daughter and friends for tonight's concert at the Nassau Coliseum. As you can imagine its pandemonium around here as we countdown to concert time.

Newsday reports that a ticket taker who's worked at the Coliseum since the 70's has never seen people buying stuff like these Montana fans in all his years.

I'm glad my wife will experience the screaming tonight....not me.

Well, with your being able to make your daughter the happiest girl in the world, and your being able to avoid the whirlwind that is Hannamania, it seems to me like you've got...

The Best Of Both Worlds. :yahoo:

I have only recently learned of this "Hannah Montana" phenomenon, when my sister-in-law asked me to buy for my 4-year old niece a "Hannah Montana Tour Bus" for Christmas. When I asked what exactly a Hannah Montana was, my mom and sister-in-law looked at me like I was from another planet.

In any event, it appears that Billy Ray Cyrus gave the world a gift other than "Achy Breaky Heart." Will this man's contributions to society never cease?!

btw...the wife and kids had a great time last night. My wife called from the arena and said the tickets were the best she's ever had. Right near the stage, they felt they were so close they could reach out and touch the performers.

From Dave Barry's 2007 Year In Review:

On the economic front, the Federal Reserve Board cuts interest rates in an effort to counteract economic stagnation caused by the fact that Americans are now spending $743 billion a year -- nearly half their disposable income -- on Hannah Montana tickets.

Here's the rest of the (very funny) article:

My sister-in-law was offered Hannah tickets for double face value by a friend who had scored some free ones in a contest. She called and asked me if she should buy them or not, and being a clueless father of two boys (no girls) I told her no way, that's too much! Yeah, she bought them anyway, lucky for her daughter, and her own sanity. My niece would never have forgiven me. :)

It was the best money I've ever spent considering my daughter will have a memory that will last a lifetime.

After all the shows we've seen together, I can't believe John didn't invite me to the Hannah Montana concert. :(

Today's review in the Detroit Free Press says that last night's sold out show at the Joe Louis Arena (17,000 seats) lasted about 70 minutes. Last time I saw a show that short (Alice Cooper's "Welcome to My Nightmare") the audience rioted and wrecked all the chairs on the mainfloor!

Hannah also sold out the Palace a couple weeks ago in Auburn Hills near Detroit.

Apparently demand for these tickets surprised everyone.

And Michigan is supposedly in a one-state recession according to Mitt!

I thought the Hannah Montana was a sandwich at Arby's. Shows what I know.

Tonight's our turn to see Hannah at the MGM Grand! The kids are way excited. My wife and I are looking for a fun time too - what the heck! The plan is to have a lunch/dinner at the MGM food court (yummy sandwiches from 'wichCraft perhaps??), then we go to this "Miley Party" thing where the kids play games and stuff. There's a raffle there for Fan Club members where some of the prizes include getting to meet Miley/Hannah before the show. If my little one wins that it would be too cool. (Though I have a feeling my wife would like to meet Billy Ray :shush: ). Then perhaps the MGM game room and onto the show (opening act: Aly & AJ).

After the show it could be time to head across the street to the Excalibur for some freshly made Krispy Kremes :food1b:

Friends who were in Vegas over the holiday weekend managed to scalp tickets for about $60 each... maybe the allure is starting to fade just a little bit.

Maybe someone can explain this to me. As I understand it, "Hannah Montana" is a character played by Miley Cyrus, right?? On a TV show aimed at young girls from what I can see (I've never seen the show, but judging by the publicity she gets...)

Anyway, why is this tour being billed as by Hannah and Miley?? Maybe there's something I don't know about the show that explains why the tour is being done this way. I mean, you never saw David Cassidy tour as Keith Partridge, right??

Hey, I'm out of touch with these kids these days. A friend's eight-year-old was grilling me the last time I saw her, asking about if I watched Hannah Montana and knew who Miley Cyrus was. I vaguely knew, but this kid knew everything there was to know about these characters, apparently.

"Hannah" draws the kids out to see their TV hero. Miley is the real person and obviously her management knows she won't be "Hannah" forever and this is the way to transition her fans over. Her last CD featured one disc of "Hannah" and one disc of Miley. A perfect strategy if you ask me.

On the TV show, "Hannah Montana" is the secret identity of teenager Miley Stewart (played by actress Miley Cyrus), who wants to live a normal life while not in the Hannah persona.

On the TV show, Miley's father is played by her real-life father Billy Ray Cyrus.

And Garth Brooks is played by Chris Gaines.
