Not only will they let you pay what you think their music is worth, they'll let you tell them what to record in the first place!

The Posies Cover the Song of Your Choice

Actually, Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer will each cover the same song—two covers for the price of one! The winner will also receive a copy of their split EP Private Sides. Priceless!

(Note ~ this is actually an auction for charity, not a new music business model. :))

I like the Posies, & also Auer's solo material.

Same deal is available from The Presidents Of The United States Of America.

It's for a charity auction by The Stranger, a Seattle indie newspaper.

PS, I'd ask them to cover Ian Hunter's "Cleveland Rocks" just to get their reaction.

Living in the vicinity, I can tell you that "The Starnger" is an appropriate name for the mag in ?! And NOT as in "I don't know you"...............

Bought "like new" copy for $4.75, thanks!

I don't think I knew about this one. I have every Posies group & solo cd that I'm aware of. Only thing I know of that I haven't picked up is the VA Big Star tribute with (I think) one Posies track.

I'd posted this awhile back in our ongoing Big Star thread here:

http://www.imwan.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3023

This is a video of the same performance of "The Ballad Of El Goodo" that appears on the live CD. It's beautifully done, the guys were really on their game that day:

Thanks for the tip on the Big Star live cd. I'd never heard them before. It's quite good, kind of reminds me of The Posies (surprise!). It's also one of the few times I've heard a recording of Jon & Ken playing together live when they sounded like they were fairly sober. I love the cover of Todd Rundgren's Slut to end the cd - hard to believe the original version of that song was on the same album as Hello It's Me!
