Former Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer arrested again
Artimus Pyle failed to register as a sex offender

Former Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle has been arrested for the second time.

Pyle failed to register as a sex offender after pleading guilty in 1993 to charges of attempted capital sexual battery by an adult on a victim younger than 12 and being principal to lewd and lascivious behavior on a child younger than 16, says the Associated Press.

The drummer, whose real name is Thomas Delmer Pyle, was arrested on Tuesday (November 27) and is being held on $50,000 bond.

He was arrested on November 19 on the same charge, but was released on a $10,000 bond.

He has failed to register a new permanent address, and his driver’s license address does not belong to him anymore.

Pyle was a member of Lynyrd Skynyrd from 1975 to 1992.

Pyle's past indiscretions have not been widely publicized... until now.

Perhaps this is why Gary Rossington et. al. seem to keep their distance from him.

this is creepy, these girls weren't 15 & 11.........

from wikipedia

In 1993, Pyle was arrested and charged in Duval, Florida with sexual battery against two girls, ages 4 and 8.[10] Facing a potential life sentence, Pyle arranged a plea-bargain with prosecutors to spare the children a trial.[11] He received eight years of probation,[12] and he was entered into the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's "Sexual Offender" database.[13] The incident is alluded to in the AxCx song "I Gave NAMBLA Pictures Of Your Kid". [14]

On Nov. 19, 2007, Pyle was arrested in St. Johns County, Florida for failure to register as a sex offender.[15]

I worked with someone once who turned out to be a convicted sex offender. When it was found out by the company - an anoymous tip was provided - he was let go for whatever reason. When we found out via the rumour mill, we looked him up on the offenders list. I anticipated it would be for some 'numb nuts' stat rape charge (stupid 20 year old having consectual with a 17 year old or something which I find to be more of a case of poor judgement than an registering offence - sorry to offend, just what I think). He was highlighted red, and when we looked up the statute; the particular crime was defined that the victim was under 11 and there was either a) violence or b) drug or alchohol.

He was a younger man, and had worked with us for about 4-5 years, so we assumed he plead down to that charge not to serve an substatial jail time (if at all). Once we found out the rest of the situation it was definately in his best interest physically to be let go... definately as far as I was concerned.

I had the misfortune of knowing a Springsteen fan who was older than myself who confided to me on the phone that he had been raping and molesting his step-daughter who had to have only been perhaps 10 at the time. I asked him for my money back from some vinyl bootlegs I was buying from him. That was in 1988 after I went to see Springsteen at the Memorial Coliseum for the Amnesty show down there. After that phone call, I never heard from him again Other than a measly little sum, I never got the majority of over $100.00 back from him. I knew this guy for about 2 years. I thought I knew about him and felt like he was o.k. even though I noticed some quirks about him. I didn't think they were any big deal. I was sure wrong!

Not to go off on too much of a tangent here, but a 20 year old having consensual sex with a 17 year old is not only not a crime anywhere that I'm aware of, but hardly an automatic case of poor judgment, either. I'm not at all ashamed to admit that I was having sex with my 17 year old girlfriend when I was 20...we had already been together for a few years, and 18 years & two kids later we're still together. I think some people (not anyone here -- just generally) get way too worked up over early-twenty-somethings having sex with late-teens. Sorry, but I don't see the big deal.

Adults and anyone under 16, though...poor judgment, to say the least. And stupid people of any age shouldn't breed. :ohyes:

As long as the person is over 16+, your safe in the US. Best to avoid high school girls once your out of high school though (see Dazed And Confused).

Obviously a guy who preys on young children should really be shot.
