Are there any users of DVD Audio Extractor here? I've been using the software for about three years, and I've recently begun to notice that when I pull the audio from live concert DVDs, I'm getting more and more gaps between tracks. The gaps are very short--no more than a hiccup, but it is a distraction. Has anyone else run into this? Is it likely to be a setting issue? Is there anything that I can do to fix the problem. This was never a problem until recently.

Thanks.

Bill

If it started recently, wondering if it's a setting on your burning software?

It's a possibility. But it only happens on half the tracks, which really confuses me.

One other (possibly really stupid) question: Is there anyway the software is extracting as mp3 rather then .wav? I don't know much about mp3, but my undestanding is that the format adds a brief period of silence at the end of each track.

The half the tracks part confuses me also. Some concert dvd's have the actual program repeated twice: once as a full concert & once as separate tracks so that you can easily program the playing order & other bells & whistles. Could that be the case with the ones you're running into?

I have 3 programs: DVD Audio Extractor, DVD Audio Ripper (which I don't think I've ever used), & a 3rd program I can't find right now (it's somewhere on my pc!!). I've never run into what you're describing on discs I've mastered. I have seen it rarely on discs others have given me. There were some discs "The Dead" officially released as internet downloads. I have a couple of those that have the problem you're describing; the silences are embedded in the tracks & reburning without gaps is not sufficient to remove them; it requires time consuming editing. A friend gave me those discs; I don't know if they were originally mp3 sourced..

The silences are more like clicks, they are so brief. I need to watch the dvd and see if they are noticeable there too. It might just be built into the dvd. I ripped them as wav files, and then burned the cds.

Have you ever tried wavtrim? It is shareware, and should take care of gaps in any wav files (except my little click-gaps lol). I've used it for years, and I love it.

What I really need is a software package that is turn-key and will let me isolate sections of songs and get rid off gaps. I'm sure it's out there, but I just don't have time to master a new program.

I haven't tried wavtrim. I'll have to take a look; I redid one of the Dead 3 cd sets on nero wave editor awhile back & it took forever.

Wavtrim literally takes seconds. You just drag the wav files into a box and it works without any sweat. Let me know if you have any trouble finding the link.
