The ad didn't bother me at all. I thought it was cool to see Dylan, and I think an ad for Detroit vehicles makes perfect sense. Keep in mind that he comes from a generation for whom Detroit (the car industry, that is) was synonymous with American exceptionalism.

It didn't really affect me one way or the other. I just thought it was funny.
Swedish scientists sneak Bob Dylan quotes into papers
A group of five Swedish scientists revealed they have a wager to see who can work the most Bob Dylan quotes into research articles.
The scientists, from Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, said their game began 17 years ago when professors John Jundberg and Eddie Weitzberg wrote a piece about intestinal gas and dubbed it "Nitric Oxide and inflammation: The answer is blowing in the wind."
"We both really liked Bob Dylan and we thought the quotes really fitted nicely with what we were trying to achieve with the title," Weitzberg told The Local.
The men said they soon discovered three other colleagues at the school were big enough Dylan fans to incorporate the singer's lyrics into their work.
"We're not talking about scientific papers -- we could have got in trouble for that -- but rather articles we have written about research by others, book introductions, editorials and things like that," Weitzberg said.
The men said they have a wager where whomever can get the most Dylan quotes into their work before retirement will be treated to lunch by the others in Solna, north of Stockholm.
"I would much rather become famous for my scientific work than for my Bob Dylan quotes," Weitzberg joked. "But yes, I am enjoying this!"
Might as well pass this along here, although it's really one source citing another source without much else:

I know I've mentioned this before (possibly even in this very thread) but there are also a batch of additional 1986 live performances by Dylan with the Heartbreakers which have circulated among collectors, having been released on radio station vinyl and CD for several Westwood One radio specials over the years.
The other Dylan/Petty/Heartbreakers collaboration which has yet to see official CD release is "Band Of The Hand" from the 1986 movie of the same name. Of the dozen or so officially released Dylan tracks that Columbia has deliberately chosen to hold back from the main catalog--instead doling them out in order to goose sales of comps and imports--this is best of the half-dozen or so songs on that list that remain vinyl-only. I need to go back and come up with a fresh list of vintage Dylan rarities, for no better reason than I'm just guessing when I through out guesses such as "a dozen or so" instead of an actual number. In recent years, $100 bonus discs, public domain UK released of radio broadcasts, and EU-only copyright extension collections have complicated Dylan's catalog considerably, making me nostalgic for the simpler times when I was more concerned with stuff like radio station discs and promo-only tracks.

House where Bob Dylan and The Band recorded 'The Basement Tapes' up for rent
The house where Bob Dylan and The Band recorded the sessions that would later become 'The Basement Tapes' is now listed for rental.
Dylan relocated to the New York property, nicknamed The Big Pink, after surviving a motorcycle crash in 1966. The musicians recorded music in the basement of the house, which were fully released as a bootleg collection last year.
The house in West Saugerties, New York has now been listed online for $650 (£422) per night. However, the basement is not part of the rental.
A description of the property reads, "The updated Dormer unit was Levon Helm's bunk area back In the late '60s. The Central Staircase opens mid-unit to a dining table & chairs; to the right is a desk-bar; the kitchen, with stone counter-top; bathroom with tile shower, and a futon-couch-sitting area. To the left, in the bedroom area, there’s a sitting area with TV ( limited cable ) and a queen sided bed with a quality mattress set. The Dormer has air-conditioning, and views of Overlook Mountain, fields and forest. Outside is the lawn with out-door furniture & original stone fireplace/bbq area nestled beneath the pines. The Dormer can sleep 4, and has WiFi."
"The main floor is a 2 bedroom unit with a sunroom ( Rick's room - was Rick Danko's quarters), living room with sofa, writing table & chairs at the picture window, wood-stove/fireplace. It opens into the Dining Room, which has a antique dining table & chairs for 6. The kitchen, as does much of the house, maintains the mid-century period look, with forest views east. The main bedroom has a queen-sized bed, desk, sitting area & full closet. The second bedroom has 2 twin beds, dressers and side tables. The sunroom had a futon twin couch ( which folds down to become a sleeper). The sunroom has it's own back entrance, and opens to the lawn and old out-door fireplace for campfire evenings. All told, upstairs has a queen bed and full futon - can sleep 4 people max. The Main Floor has a queen-sized bed, 2 twins and a single 'twin' futon on the sunporch -and so can sleep 5 max."
The mega box of those sessions is at times quite painful to listen to. There is a lot of crap amongst the gems. The 2 CD version has most of the best material
Yea! Dylan...Oscar winner and now a Nobel laureate!
I know that there are many in the literary world who are in up in arms about this, but this is an excellent and well-deserved choice. One of the most powerful and eloquent poets.
I'm still trying to figure this out. Is it a lifetime sort of thing or just for the last year? Dylan's last album of original material came out 3 or 4 years ago. His last two have been the Sinatra related covers.

The Nobel Prize in Literature is always given for the author's lifetime body of work, not for any specific creation. It is difficult to argue that Bob Dylan has not changed our worldview, and the words we use to describe it, in significant ways. I believe that this is what the Nobel Committee has recognized.
