Cain is a talented musician and songwriter, but he's always come off to me as an arrogant dick. He was in the right place at the right time when The Babys were touring with Journey in 1980 and just walked into a career and life changing opportunity.
I'm not saying Schon is easy to get along with, I'm sure, but at this point, Cain should just keep his politics and religion to himself, show up for work and collect his paycheck.
As for Rolie possibly returning? Who knows. I know the reason he left in 1980 was that he saw the handwriting on the wall with Perry, so maybe he'd be amenable to coming back.
I agree, Cain always came across as an ass, but I also agree with Renny that Schon is an ego-maniac.
The money keeps them going and not friendships.
They are a weird bunch.
I wonder how much Arnel can take.
Steve Smith is such a good guy, and I'm not surprised he's been quiet.
If Arnel is smart, he's squirreling away his money because you know when his voice goes, he'll be unceremoniously kicked to the curb like Augeri was.
As for Steve, this is just a gig for him and he's wise to stay out of it. He's maintained a friendship with Schon over the years, appearing on some of his solo albums and probably wants to maintain that.
neal schon has been around, should tell us all something about him as far as loyalty of any kind goes:

and you know what, if cain quits, schon will just replace him with a look-a-like and continue on as journey.
You up for this, Geff?
I'm not a very good keyboard player, though in their prime I actually did play several Journey songs on keys; like most 80's the trick was programming the Roland Juno 60 or 106 (which everybody in 80's top 40/MTV used; & I mean EVERYBODY) to get the exact same sounds as the original recording & I was very good at that. So maybe.........!
I could sure use the big money!

Oh no. The tour just ended and Cain is under the spell of his religious nutjob who is also Trump's "spiritual adviser." I am with Neal on this one, I quit too.

I hadn't heard anything about this White House visit. So I did a quick internet search of "cain valory white house" and only got a couple hits about it pre-Schon blowup and those links all indicated "members of Journey" and not "Journey" was at the White House. Compare that to a ton of hits where Schon went off about it. Looked like a complete non-story until Schon made it into a story. I pretty much have gotten to the point where I dislike any politics in music because it's become so incredibly dividing and destructive (way worse than religion these days IMO), but on the other hand Schon is a complete jackass to bash the other band members for what they are doing on their own time. What if Cain is strongly against smoking dope, Schon is spotted at a "legalize it" rally and there are a couple minor stories about it and then the rest of the band blows up and threatens to try and force Schon out because the band is not about endorsing marijuana use? All a bunch of foolishness.
It would be very interesting to find out what the band name ownership is these days. Wouldn't surprise me if Valory, Smith, Pineda are hired hands but I would be very surprised if Cain does not own a fairly large percentage of the group's name. And then it gets into the ownership of the band's name versus the ownership of the corporation which are often different. Like with Yes and Jon Anderson, at the time of Chris Squire's death Anderson had no part of the ownership of the Yes corporation but was still and equal partner in the ownership of the band name (with Squire and Alan White) which is why Jon is legally able to currently tour using the Yes name.
I see Smith staying on, as he has stayed out of the fray. Smart guy. Rolie could potentially return, but like Pete said, can Perry do it anymore and would he even want to return to touring. I suspect not. He seems to be content being out of the public eye.

What Joseph said. I'm a freakin' HUGE political junkie and I f'ing hate it when bands/singers inject their politics or social views on us listeners. I don't give a shit if it's a band I like either.

Schon posted something from the White House that said Journey and not members of Journey, so I do sympathize with him.
He is going off the rails on this, so it obviously cuts deeper than just politics.
Make no mistake, it is that Yoko that is Cain's batshit wife (his 3rd I believe) that is the root of the evil.
I'm not sure why Cain would have a huge stake seeing he joined in late 1980, but maybe there were new agreements written up when the band reformed in 1995 or after Perry left in 1998.
I have never liked Cain as a player or writer, and he took Journey to the land of cheese.
Rollie would be such an awesome choice.
Neal did say Jonathan did not want Rollie at the reunion and that Neal had to fight for his inclusion.
That I believe.
Ditch 'em all but Smith.
