Well they've got a new drummer; there could never be a true reunion. I think Plant once said Led Zeppelin sounded "useless" without Bonham.

The 3 of them should definitely find a singer, call themselves something else, record an album, and tour that record while mixing in some Zep songs.
I'd go.

As a general statement (there are always exceptions) I would prefer that major bands who lose members that had a significant contribution to there sound would call it a day; there is nothing stopping any group of musicians from starting a new band.

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss could join The Lovemongers.

Page already hooked up with the Black Crowes to perform Zep, so why not someone else now?

I have a radio interview with Plant during the "Clarksville" tour and he was already saying then that it was to hard to do this.

Saw Jimmy Page tonight on "The Tonight Show" talking about the re-masters. God Bless him! He still has so much energy and "coolness".
Can't wait for these re-masters.

Paul Rodgers & Page did not make an artistically satisfying combination when they teamed up in the Firm in the mid-1980s--those albums are really mediocre with a very few exceptional songs. This ill-starred venture is a prime example of the fallacy that two "heavyweight figures" automatically produce quality music when teamed together.
For whatever reason, the "end all, be all" for Page has always been a Zeppelin reunion--starting with Live Aid less than 5 years after Bonham's death. Speaking of that, the maxim that the late Bonzo was "irreplaceable" lasted approximately 5 years, as there were very serious plans to reform LZ with Page, Plant, Jones and ex-Chic drummer Tony Thompson in 1986 although it reportedly flamed out after Thompson was injured in a car wreck and Plant's irritation with Page trying to call all the shots as if Plant was still 20 years old and green.
I for one wish Page would stop sulking about Plant's refusal to do more Zep concerts and work with people other than Jones and Jason Bonham and focus on writing & releasing some new, ground-breaking music. The most admirable thing about Plant is that he made his own career after Zep broke out, whether you agree with the directions he chose or not. It's long overdue for Page to do the same--he hasn't done anything other than one-off isolated concerts since he left the Black Crowes tour due to a back injury in late 2000. That's nearly 14 years in which he's essentially been a non-working musician. Maybe he lacks self-confidence as a solo artist; his first and only solo album, 1988's Outrider, certainly wasn't much to write home about.

The guy could probably get nearly anyone in the rock business to join him for a new project. He could really put together a new superband if he wanted.

The Page interview on The Tonight Show was basically worthless in terms of any new information, but the more I see the larger boxes the more I'm starting to lean in that direction...

I saw The Firm live in 1986 and that was a damn good show. I saw it, I heard it so I should know. Also have a full-length version of the 1984 MTV concert (MTV only showed 30 min) and a 1986 radio broadcast from Cleveland that were excellent.
Sold out at The Spectrum-all 17,000 seats. Not all shows sold out though.
The problem was not doing past material, but The Firm were not awful and as far as "overhyped"-I only know of people trashing that band not hyping them.
The albums were so-so, although Mean Business was far better and varied than the debut.
Coverdale/Page is a criminally underrated album-that one had balls start to finish and fantastic playing by Jimmy.
