It's just the opposite, though. As a studio band Mercury was responsible for only 40% of the material on most Queen albums and Taylor and May sang lead on about 25% of the material (2-3 songs/album). It was on tour that Mercury became the almost complete front man, except a song or two when he went backstage to pay the roadies.

Queen fires Paul Rodgers, hires 50 Cent to replace him. This is an amazing mash-up job:

Y'all realize that last week was 14 years that Freddie's been gone?

Been listening to a lot of Queen lately. A lot of those songs are tied up with my memories. "Bohemian Rhapsody" was one of the first songs I clearly remember hearing on the radio.

Tonight the local PBS is doing their fund drive and are playing pieces of one of the Queen/Rodgers concerts.

Right now they are playing The Show Must Go On. Rodgers voice suits this song.

I recorded the same show from Iowa Public TV on Monday and saw about half of it.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Rodgers' voice with the old Queen songs. I was also pretty happy that we got to hear some of his old music like "Feel like makin' love" ...

Gipp had an extra ticket to see them last night, but I didn't go---too many hoops to jump through in order to see Faux Queen.

Queen recording new album

Oct 31, 2006

Queen are currently recording a new album, according to guitarist Brian May.

The band last album released an album in 1995. 'Made In Heaven' was created using vocals Freddie Mercury left behind prior to his death in 1991.

May and Queen drummer Roger Taylor will join forces with Paul Rodgers, ex of Free, who toured Europe with Queen in 2005.

Original Queen bassist John Deacon retired in the late 1990s.

May told Yahoo: "We have about three weeks booked in the studio at the moment. It was going to be just exploratory to see what happened when Paul and Roger and I were in the same room with a recording machine.

"But we're already deep into it and we already have some very good material, so I'm pretty excited about that. It's very new, very different. There may be enough there to create an album, though it's early days yet. At the moment it's just a few tracks.

"We don't really have anything to prove, but we have a lot of passion still in our bodies and it seems to be finding a good place at the moment."

May also suggested the band would tour following the album's eventual release.

Y'know, I like Paul Rodgers much more than I like Queen, but they really shouldn't be calling this Queen.

Since they were doing Queen material on that tour, I was OK with it. But if they're doing new songs, all they're keeping the name for is recognition. Of a dead band.

I mean, there were more members of Split Enz in Crowded House than there will be members of Queen on this project.

Good one, and true. The name Queen should NOT be used when these recordings if released.

I agree completely. They should call themselves "The New Queen." Or maybe "Queen 21st Century." (Catchy, eh?) :ohyes:

I think they should call it Queen.

And CBK1998's Avatar shows us why...
