Come on now...you know how this works better than anyone. The "June Swoon" is a patented and copywritten possession of the Red Sox. Ortiz has been dealing with nagging injuries, to this point, J.-P.U. has been a $15/year disappointment and the two players with any speed on the bases, Crisp and Lugo, are both batting below .225. Manny has been improving, but he's still below .300. It's been the unlikely heroes in the form of Lowell, Youkilis and Pedroia as well as some decent pitching that have kept the Red Sox alive. When any of that goes south, like Schilling's performance last night, they're in trouble. This race isn't over until October.

This will be an interesting Subway Series. Mets in a slump and Yanks on a hot streak. Perfect time for the Orange & Blue to turn it around (I hope)!!

The Mets look listless these days. A real old fashioned slump alright.
But one of these days it will turn around once again, they're too good for this to continue much longer.

Well, the Barry show is arriving in Boston for the weekend. I'll be curious to see how he gets pitched to. After that, the Giants go home to face the Yankees in San Francisco.

Yanks did it again this afternoon, a tidy 7-1 victory over the D-backs behind a stellar 8-inning effort from Pettitte. That's 9 in a row!

Tonight ~ Perez throws a no-hitter against the Yanks, Clemens is rocked for 22 runs in the 1st inning then gets hit by a line drive which shatters his kneecap, ending his career, then deflects off A-Rod's elbow, ending his career, and finally bounces into the Yankee dugout just as Joe Torre is walking to the water fountain, he slips on the ball and breaks his nose on the concrete steps, causing Mattingly to faint from shock, which panics his wife watching from the stands, she gets up too quickly and becomes dizzy, falls into the arms of a 300-pound policeman who loses his balance and caroms into the guardrail, destabilising the architecture of the entire stadium, which collapses to the ground.
Let's go Mets!

Everyone in my house knows it's going to be a Yankee/Mets World Series...at least me and my basset hound, Fred knows it.
I think Linda has been watching too many cartoons. That's the only place that can happen.
Let's hope to hear John's chant 3 times this weekend..."The Yankees win! THE YANKEES WIN!"

I'm just hoping the Mets don't get swept. Thats how off they've been the past 2 weeks.

Wow, Linda - I can see that you've given this a lot of thought.
However, I'm willing to spare Torre and Mattingly from injury or trauma. They certainly seem like nice enough blokes.

Could be the Dodgers/Angels in a Freeway Series. Right now that looks more possible than Yankees/Mets

The Angels vs. Dodgers game tonight was a really fine game to watch. I also had fun watching the Braves vs. Indians after Boston pretty much took their game out of reach from the Giants.

The two Carlos's are just killing the Mets. End this slump now!! If Bobby Abreu can do it, certainly Delgado can.

I can't wait for the Barry show to get over with. My Giants are doing bad enough as it is. This will allow me to focus my attention on the really good ballgames going on. I've been taking a particular interest in the Tigers/Angels series.
You guys would have laughed at me last night as I was watching my Extra Innings package. I was frantically going back and forth between channels watching Barry for his AB's, Ichiro doing his AB's up in Seattle and then Vladimir Guerrero doing his AB's (and trying to stick to that game in general) all because Barry the Cheater is about to break the most hallowed record in sports. I wish he'd do the world a favor and retire the moment he hits the one that puts him over Aaron.

You know, Linda? You're probably right. BTW, he might have gotten 755 today if he hadn't have broken his bat when he made really good contact with the ball during one AB today. He really nailed it, but the bat just broke off right in his hands. It probably would have been a splash hit. Well, he's got to take the show on the road down to Los Angeles this week.

Anyone else excited that the Yankees look like they've finally woke up and are about to make a run at a playoff spot?
