Quote: Rod Stewart Confirms Wedding Date
Rod Stewart will marry his fiancee Penny Lancaster on June 16, the singer has confirmed.
The rocker let slip the date of his impending nuptials to pal Sir Elton John at a charity dinner at the weekend.
Stewart told John at the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation Dinner at Hampton Court Palace, England, on Saturday, "My wedding is in two weeks. Start looking for the gift."
John replied, "You greedy bastard, that's why I am invited. Don't worry, I'll find something nice for you." But John later dedicated a song to the couple when he took to the stage.
Stewart and Lancaster have kept the location of the ceremony a closely guarded secret, but it is widely thought to be taking place in the Italian Riviera resort of Portofino, famous for being the spot where Richard Burton proposed to Elizabeth Taylor in the 1960s. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfg ... y_id=17244

Quote: Rod Stewart injured after concert slip up
Rod Stewart has been taken to hospital after slipping over at a gig in Manchester last night (June 28).
The 62-year-old needed 10 stitches in his leg after he fell on a step at the beginning of his City Of Manchester Stadium gig.
Despite the slip, the singer carried on performing before he was eventually treated by a doctor today (June 29).
But the accident meant that he missed the O2 Silver Clef Awards in London where he was set to be presented with an award by TV chef Gordon Ramsay, reports This Is London.
His spokeswoman said: "Rod Stewart was unable to attend the Nordoff-Robbins Silver Clef lunch to receive his Icon award after cutting his leg on a wet, slippery metal step while making his entrance on stage last night at the City of Manchester Stadium.
"He performed the entire show in the rain, refusing any medical treatment, and today received 10 stitches to the wound.
"Happily his doctor has confirmed he will be able to perform tomorrow's (June 30) show at Twickenham Stadium and the 'Concert for Diana' on Sunday (July 1)." http://www.nme.com/news/rod-stewart/29350

Quote: Rod Stewart falls in love with Scottish cuisine
Rod Stewart has fallen in love with one of Scotland's traditional dishes - stovies.
The rock star was dining out at a visit to Dundee United's Tannadice ground when he was served the delicacy by the team cook Gordon Milne.
Stovies consist of fried onions in beef dripping, with potatoes and corned beef, but can also include sausages or mince in different regions.
Milne later sent Stewart the recipe, but omitted his special secret ingredient from the instructions.
Speaking to BBC News, the chef said: "He was in the boardroom and we had stovies in the boardroom that night and that's where he got a taste for them.
"I don't suppose he's had stovies before, he was just hungry that night and he got a plate of stovies and he thought they were fantastic."
Although brought up in London, Stewart, as suggested by his surname, has Scottish roots. http://www.nme.com/news/rod-stewart/37983

Scottish cuisine is the reason why Scotland never became a world power.

Rod Stewart is re-recording one of his classic hits in tribute to Heather Mills.
The new version will be titled "Hot Leg."

Our local Vegas news just reported that Rod will be doing a 2 week trial run at Caesar's Palace in November as he decides whether or not to replace the departing Cher on a more full-time basis.
You just know this will be the very WORST Rod that we're getting as he tries to appeal to the tourists.
No reunion with the Faces, but we get this.

http://www.antimusic.com/news/10/oct/05 ... nion.shtmlRod Stewart and Jeff Beck Reunion? 10/05/2010 . (Gibson) Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck are considering a recording project, one of several new albums Stewart hopes to make now that he has decided to end to his Songbook series, after Fly Me to the Moon... The Great American Songbook, Volume V is released on October 19. Stewart told Billboard he hoped to record blues and country albums. "And I may record with Jeff Beck, and I may have to write a few songs… I've got a meeting with Jeff in a couple weeks in London, and we're going to see if we can work together and see what each of us wants to do. We're a little bit older now and we can tolerate each other." Stewart said his songwriting style had become much looser since the Jeff Beck Group days. "Songwriting, let me tell you, was something that was thrust upon me," he said. "When we were in the Jeff Beck Group, we said, 'OK, let's see if we can do something original,' because everybody was trying to write songs then. This was the late '60s. Woody [Ronnie Wood] started strumming and he said, 'Would you write the lyrics?' And I said, 'Me? What? I've never written a song in my life!' So we wrote a couple songs as the Jeff Beck Group and we never looked back."

Rod's old fella is down a bit. I wonder if he did the 'roids anally. http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainmen ... -1.1343771Rod Stewart: Steroid 'addiction' shrank my manhood! He may no longer deserve the name Rod Stewart. The 68-year-old rocker revealed that while some guys have all the luck — he certainly didn’t after continual steroid use shrank his... Maggie May. “I let myself down on tours in the late 80s when I was addicted to steroids. In those days we didn't have in-ear monitors and the band kept getting louder and drunker, and I kept blowing my voice out,” Stewart told Mojo Magazine. “The steroids will take down the swelling in any membrane — including your k--b-- — and it’s what you do when you’re in a bit of a pinch and need to do a show and you can’t sing,” the 68-year-old rocker told Mojo magazine, using a British euphemism for his microphone and amps. The former Small Faces frontman found there was a big cost involved with using the drugs. While it saved his voice, it gave him reasons to sing the blues. “One night, on stage in Sheffield, I thought I was in the kitchen with my mum because the steroids had eaten a hole in my stomach,” he told Mojo. “I was bleeding internally and hallucinating. What the audience must have thought?” Stewart has overcome the side-effects, though — the notorious rock ‘n’ roll Lothario is married to model Penny Lancaster, 42, and has eight children, ranging in ages from two to 50, from four different women. Though he called steroids “the most horrible drugs in the world,” Stewart did add that he still uses them about once a year “if I’m really struggling. “It gets you through the show,” he told the magazine.

The last recording that Rod did that in my opinion was listenable was "Sweet Little Rock & Roller" from Smiler in 1974. With the possible exception of the brief 80's Jeff Beck reunion (they had 1 tolerable hit who's name escapes me at the moment), Stewart hasn't existed in my world other than to disgust me since 1974.
