What are the rules for this one?
Last albums that were the best by a given artist - leaving on a high note, so to speak?
Or last albums that rank among the top albums overall?

Although it wasn't their best album (nor even their last album released) there was something slightly perfect about the way in which "Abbey Road" completed the Beatles' recording career. (There, I can say something nice about the Beatles every now and again)

Last albums always seem so interesting in that you can look at the group after they break up and see it coming in their last album. Mardi Gras by Creedence is a prime example or Last Exit by Traffic.

I'm not trying to be contrary, but LA Woman was not the Doors' final album - it was their last Jim Morrison-era album.Their final two proper studio albums were Other Voices (1971) and Full Circle (1972). The fact that these last two releases are now out-of-print still does not change this.

Billy Swan's 2000 CD "Like Elvis Used To Do". Billy takes songs best known as having been recorded by Elvis and in some cases, totally rearranges the tune. There has been many compilations of his before and after this CD (all of which feature "I Can Help"), but nothing with newer music then this album. Since he's getting older now and there is very limited demand for his music, this is quite probably his final CD. Seek it out, I love it.

To me LA Woman IS The Doors' final album. The original line-up of The Doors that is.
