Yeah, but I'm kind of with Lebron on this one - I would prefer if the NFL leave Xmas to the NBA. Especially if they intend to give Netflix really good games when it's on. It really is likely to water down the Sundays before the regular season

Not that the early basketball games were much worth watching, but the football wasn't competitive either. Neither of them were as bad as last night's dog, but for all the talk about great sports on Xmas, the Lakers-Warriors game was the only one really worth the hype.

Deshaun Watson reworks his contract. Brown fans can now celebrate as Deshaun will look to lead them to the promised land!

Thursday Night Football needs to be abolished.

The players hate it, the fans hate it, and the quality of play is largely abysmal.

Seattle 6, Chicago 3.

Good lord, that game was horrific.

But, Amazon and Goodell don’t care and there will be more Christmas games too.

Yay.

The only thing entertaining that came out of that was the memes pointing out that Seattle teams beat Chicago teams by the score of 6-3 three different times this year.

absolutely

$$$$$ - it's ALL that matters

you know what part of the whole NFL streaming thing i like the most?

they are putting games on pay subscription channels rather than 'free' TV and they STILL run commercials every fucking time there is any kind of break......."he might have broke his neck on that play tom......we'll find out if he did right after this toilet paper commercial."

so they are doubling down on their money.

browns have restructured watson contract so they will have more money to spend for the next 2 years that they still owe watson 92 million.

:sigh:

i simply cannot believe that they don't just cut him and get it over with.

Doubling down on Deshaun. I can’t believe he has been this bad, he still is only 29.

It doesn't look like overthecap.com had the updated Watson contract in the system yet. However, they had the Browns as being nearly 18 million over the cap for 2025. Watson's cap number for 2025 had been just under 73 million, there is speculation online that the restructure will put the number at about 37 million...if true the Browns go from nearly 18 million over the cap to nearly 18 million under the cap. With the draft picks they have now, their rookie pool would be about 16 million. So if the 37 million estimate as Watson's 2025 cap number, the Browns are pretty much at break-even after paying next year's draft picks.

The Browns will be on the hook for some significant cap hits when Watson is gone.

https://overthecap.com/player/deshaun-watson/5596

They guaranteed him 46 million each year in 2025 and 2026. So regardless of how they divide it up with the additional void year, they will be paying him another 92 million dollars. Then the money they've paid him in the past that will count against their cap in the future is 26.935 + 26.935 + 17.906 + 8.958 million = 80.734 million total that will be future cap hits. So 92 million in future guaranteed payments + 80.734 million in payments that have not counted against the cap yet but will in the future = 172.734 million. If the 2025 cap number is 37 million, Watson cap hits will still total 135.734 million in years 2026 and beyond.

Could be a big day for the Browns draft position as the Giants, Raiders and Jaguars all lead at halftime. Browns have to cooperate and roll over for the Dolphins.

When you watch Sam Darnold play, you can't believe how good he has become and that he will be a free agent. How can the Vikings not sign him?
But even worse for me, we (the Jets) had him, drafted First Round but Adam Gase screwed him. Now look at him!

Lots of big talking in Wisconsin this week on how the Packers were the hot team and could beat anybody at this point. So much for that idea. As usual, now the message boards are lighting up that the coach didn't have them prepared and the defensive coordinator did a poor job. Seems pretty obvious to me that a healthy Lions team is the class of the division and the Vikings are a rock solid #2 (Detroit has enough injury problems that the Vikings could be better on this data). Someone probably could make a legitimate argument that the Packers are the 6th best team in the league, but that's as high as I can see them.

Browns down by 10 with 4 1/2 minutes to go.

Packer fans can be smug. They had years of success with Favre and Rodgers (not Paul) and now are anointing Love as the Second Coming. Lions fans deserve to be smug considering their track record in the last few decades. Same for us Vikings fans. The big difference is we Vikes fans expect failure. We're used to it.

As for the game, it was competitive. My usual gripe is KOC's sometimes baffling playcalling and Flores' defense being average half the time. To succeed in the playoff's, you can't be average. On the other hand, KOC keeps the games close, making one appreciate the win. But it reminds me of Kirk's time here.... coming from behind numerous times to win. Fine and dandy until you play a superior team or one that exploits your weaknesses.

Colts absolutely humiliated by the Giants today. Brutal loss, absolutely brutal -- I can forgive a loss to a good team, but man, to get spanked by a team picking in the top five is inexcusable.

Colts "gave up a season-high 45 points, more than the Giants had scored in their previous three weeks combined. The Giants’ 45 points were also the most they’ve scored in any game in nearly a decade."

"Lock had started 26 games in his career entering Sunday’s contest, but none of them went nearly as well as his 27th start. The 2019 second-round pick produced a career-high five total touchdowns and finished with a 155.3 passer rating, three points shy of being perfect. Lock had more touchdown passes in the first half (three) than incompletions (one)."

Eagles humiliate Dallas 41-7 and it was a joy.

Gardner-Johnson has two picks including a 69 yard TD.

No Hurts?

Pickett played very well with 2 TDs (and another called back), but he was playing with injured ribs and had to leave the game.

No Pickett?

Tanner McKee, the second year player who had never appeared in a game threw 2 TDs which was really cool.

And then there’s Saquon.

A whopping 167 yards rushing and Dallas had 8 in the box and it didn’t matter!

He now has a staggering 2,005 yards rushing on the season.

Barkley needs 101 yards to break the all-time record but might sit out a meaningless game next week (Hurts probably will too).

Wow.

Oh yeah, DeVonta Smith had 120 yards receiving and 2 TDs and AJ Brown had a TD.

13-3 and the NFC East is clinched.

sunday night vikings - lions might just be the game of the year and its the last one.

winner - #1 seed, first round bye - home cooking through the playoffs

loser - #5 seed, wild card game, no home games.

as about as big as a regular season game gets.
