Interesting article. Highlights --

"It’s also worth noting that all but one of Richardson’s starts this season have come against top-10 pass defenses, while Flacco’s two starts came against the Jaguars and Titans."

"And of the 78 quarterbacks who’ve been drafted in the first round since 2000, Richardson ranks 41st in EPA per dropback through 10 starts, per TruMedia. Some of the notable names behind him: Josh Allen, Trevor Lawrence, Tua Tagovailoa, and Jared Goff."

"The guy just doesn’t take sacks on early downs. He’s the only quarterback who hasn’t taken a sack on first down this season. In fact, he hasn’t taken a sack on any dropback that TruMedia charts as a “run down,” which includes any first down and second-and-less-than-7."

"Indianapolis has been a league-average offense overall and one of the best rushing attacks on first and second down—but only when Richardson has been on the field. When Flacco is out there, Indy’s early-down offense has been among the worst in the league."

"...while inaccuracy has certainly contributed to his issues, Richardson has had the highest rate in the league of passes falling incomplete due to receiver error (which includes drops, receivers falling down on routes, and miscommunications with the QB), passes where he was hit as he threw the ball, and passes that were accurate but defensed at the catch point."

WTF, Bears?

I think this was a great learning experience for the team; they learned a lot about their coaches, and that idiot cornerback. I wasn't expecting a team with the number 1 overall pick to bounce back in 1 year, and it's not just about physical talent; it's mental acuity, situational awareness, and focus. Which are harder to build up than your quads.

I was so bloody pissed after that game.

They had the number one pick because of they're trade with Carolina. The Bears were a mediocre team last year who were in the playoff hunt for a good part of the season. And they will remain a middle of the pack team for a couple more years. I'm positive they're coach is going to get fired prompting them to bring in a new coach who's inherenting a rookie QB he didn't draft and will want to get rid of when things go south. Just like they did their last two QBs Fields and Trubisky. Yeah big surprise why Chicagos never had a great or even good one.

Hey, good win for the Jets. Stroud really got beat up.

It’s extremely rare I can root for a guy I’ve met a few times at a BBQ, and I’ve known since he was a kid, so hell yeah, to Flacco being the starter.

Richardson is not an NFL QB and was inaccurate in college, so this is nothing new.

Go Joe!

Oh yeah, the Eagles are red hot with three straight wins and Fangio figured out the D and Hurts finally resembles himself and Barkley has been a beast.

But…they still have Sirianni and dumb things await.

Really like Flacco as a guy, think he's a real good dude, but his start last night sorta showed that maybe it's not all Richardson's fault-- maybe the play design and play calling is abysmal.

Boy did I 100% nail my prediction.

The Eagles are now 5-2 but good ‘ol Sirianni was one step from the unemployment line with his asinine decisions of buffoonery and cluelessness.

This imbecile went for not one, not two, but THREE two-point conversions that all failed and were completely unnecessary and also bypassed two FGs and took successful extra points off the board twice, only to fail with miserable two-point attempts.

And then, he decides to attempt a 57 yard FG late that missed and allowed Jacksonville to drive down to the 13 yard line with a minute to go, and lucked out when the Eagles picked off a pass.

Nearly blew a 22-0 lead against an awful team solely through horrific, mind-boggling decisions.

I can’t stand this doofus.

Oh yeah. Barkley made one of the greatest plays by a running back in NFL history and DeVonta Smith made one of the most spectacular TD grabs you’ll ever see.

Yeah, he doesn't seem like he's got the temperament to be a head coach, he seems more like he's got a coordinator personality.

3 observations:
1. That was certainly fun
2. I don't see the Ravens winning the Superbowl
3. I don't see the Bengals making the playoffs.

Incredible game, feels like the best one I watched all year long. Man, what a tough division the AFC North is (and funny enough, the NFC North as well).

Too bad it had to end on such an unfortunate note with two pretty obvious penalties going uncalled. I don't understand why the NFL doesn't do replay assist on every play. If the ball hasn't been snapped for the next play, there's no reason they can't radio down for some game-changing penalties (to throw or pick up the flag).

Crazy that the Ravens defense has become such a liability after being so strong last year. They really could have given this game away on penalties, there were several drives extended for Cincy due to penalties on third and fourth downs.

Why's that? I think they've got just as good a chance as any.

I agree on the flags; I expect the NFL will do that about the same time MLB goes to an electronic strike zone. Which might be never.

the main thing with the Ravens is I have a hard time that defense getting through a gauntlet that includes at least 3 of Houston, Buffalo, KC, and Detroit. Individually, I think Baltimore can win any one of those games, but given the way that defense looks, going 4-0 seems highly unlikely. They are farther behind KC and Detroit, especially, than I thought. Effectively eliminating Cincy from the conversation helps everyone, but the other variable that the Ravens face is the Steelers. Given the rivalry of that division, it could be a 2 / 7 WC match up, and I wouldn't count it a guaranteed win.

Ravens are such an interesting team. In Madden or Tecmo Bowl they’d have a 10 offense and a 1 defense. :) and Lamar Jackson would be Bo Jackson.

Woof, Flacco has been brutal these last two weeks. Four turnovers yesterday... insane.

Here in the Chicago area, people are irate with Eberflus and the Bears.

Yeah, it's crazy how they seemed to have figured something out and were on the ascent... and now are right back where they were to begin the season.

Jets have completely crashed and burned and are on the Clock. The NY Giants too. When do pitchers and catchers report?? :)

And picking QBs remains a shot in the dark every season (see Anthony Richardson and Caleb Williams). I thought the Bears would be competitive but they are another fire sale (like the Jets, they lose to the Patriots).
At least the Lions look like they have turned things around in a major way.
And will the Chiefs ever lose this season?

I think if nothing else, Baker Mayfield and Geno Smith have managed to demonstrate that it's not always a QB issue. You can't blame a screwdriver that it's not good for pounding in nails.

And it goes the other way - Trevor Lawrence and Justin Herbert have spent a lot of time in the wilderness for how good they are.
Not saying the two you mention will work out - I'm especially worried about Williams in Chicago - but I can still see why they were drafted where they were.

Trevor was supposed to be a generational QB but so far has been better than good but not one of the elites. The Jets ruined Zach but would have really ruined Trevor too so he was lucky to avoid them. Turns out the Jets should have built around Sam Darnold but punted. Glad he has found success.
