Worst owners in sports, now that Dan Snyder is gone:
John Fisher
Jerry Reinsdorf
Jimmy Haslam

You could add extensively to that list if you wanted to but those guys have to take the top spots.

Jerry Jones is one you could argue for, but the Cowboys at least are competitive and he seems to want to have success, unlike those other guys.

deshaun watson went down with what seems to be an achilles heel tear and will probably miss the rest of the season, and possibly some of next season too.

sadly, as he lay on the field in pain, cleveland fans were cheering.........

what a mess, what a fucking mess......how one guy could ruin an entire franchise, right down to the fans.

possibly the most hated man in cleveland sports history, replacing harvey kuenn.

I agree with your assessment of the Browns, Renny. The one comment I slightly disagree with is "how one guy could ruin an entire franchise." Before Watson, who I despise, and is a despicable human being, you must look at the architects of this fucking mess, the owners, the Haslams. To me, they have been the absolute worst owners in all pro sports, and there is plenty of competition for that top spot. They gave Watson that worst contract ever. He simply said, "Show me the money," and they more than willingly agreed. But you are spot on ... "what a fucking mess!!" A friend of mine from Cleveland, sent me this is yesterday.

Since the Browns returned to the NFL, this new franchise has posted a regular season record of 139-270-1, a .339 winning percentage. 21 full seasons in a 4-team division, and have not won a division title once. In the last 25 years, they've finished last in their division 16 times. Their playoff record over that timeframe is 1-3. That's right, one playoff win in the last 25 years. Franchise was wrecked long before Watson got there. If anything, Cleveland Brown fans should petition the NFL to revoke the Browns name and make this franchise use a new team name, rather than further disgrace the "Browns" name even more, considering the real Browns team is playing in Baltimore.

According to overthecap.com, Deshaun Watson's 2025 cap number will be $72,935,000. If they release him before June 1, the dead money is $172,734,000 (that's right, his cap number goes up nearly $100 million). If they release him after June 1, the amount of dead money rises to $118,935,000, adding an additional 46 million dollars to the cap. Watson will very likely be in a Brown's uniform through 2025.

you may be correct, but i think it is all going to depend on how the rest of the season goes.

everything sure looked hunky dory for the browns yesterday right from the opening kick-off. toxic people, which i personally believe watson is, can ruin a whole hell of a lot of things.

haslam is worth 8.5 Billion............

The problem is with that kind of cap hit they wouldn't have enough room left to field a team if they cut him.

I think this was a great learning experience for the team; they learned a lot about their coaches, and that idiot cornerback. I wasn't expecting a team with the number 1 overall pick to bounce back in 1 year, and it's not just about physical talent; it's mental acuity, situational awareness, and focus. Which are harder to build up than your quads.

Everything I need to know about Winston was the scene in Hard Knocks where he thought a good story for a nationally televised show was about where he used to pee off the porch. A deep thinker he ain't.

He's not, but he seems like a fun guy who loves playing football. I could root for a guy like him if it wasn't for those accusations.

And just to show you how far off some of the scouts can be -- I remember when he was a prospect and some scouts were saying he had Peyton Manning level football intelligence, lol.

Oof. I wonder if this is for "tapping out" or because he has been struggling... or both?

Colts at MN on Sunday night. If Flacco is the QB, it'll be an interesting game.

I think after 2 losses in a row after starting 5-0, MN has probably been doing some major changes to the game plans coming up.

It absolutely is. When they drafted AR, they knew he would probably be terrible for a season or two. It was a calculated risk based on the options available to the team -- keep trying to find guys no one else wanted like Carson Wentz and Jacoby Brissette and hope we hit a Jared Goff... or use the #4 overall pick to take the best guy available to us, which was AR or Will Levis.

Benching him now, if it's for good, just shows that this team isn't building itself methodically, it's just making random decisions based on what's happening week to week. If they didn't want to go through the growing pains and the losing, why did you draft this guy? He's exactly what he's shown he was in college. They drafted him knowing it would take one full season at the absolute minimum just to make him a serviceable NFL QB, much less an elite player.

Giving up on the longterm plan just 10 games into it shows they don't know what they're doing and that we shouldn't have any faith that they do going forward. This is the sort of thing bad teams do.

But why am I surprised, the Colts wasted Luck's entire career, got the same number of Super Bowl appearances with Peyton as the Broncos did in less than half the time Indy had him, and have been in QB purgatory since 2019. Let's keep the train roling.

And this was why they drafted him -- after 2-3 years of playing and development, Josh Allen went from a mediocre QB to one of the best in the NFL. They figured they can train a guy with unique physical tools to play QB, but they couldn't give unique physical tools to someone who already had QB skills.
