It is hard not be be happy with the Bears being 4-2. But, if you consider their victories are against the 1-3 Titans, 1-4 Rams, 1-4 Panthers, and 1-5 Jaguars, you just have to pump the breaks a little.

I agree The Bears shouldn't aren't an offensive juggernaut but blowing out bad teams in back to back wins is a sign of competence which Chicago hasn't seen in some time from their offense. When they start their gauntlet later in the season, showing basic facilities is a more realistic sign that they're on to something, considering a talented but still rookie QB; an OC in his first year with the group and a suspect line.
Already one of my workmates says he's looking forward to Chicago taking on Washington in two weeks for a potential quarterback duel between C Williams and Jayden Daniels!

Ah, yes, but if they still had Mitch Trubisky, they'd be 2-4, so don't knock it, folks.
You're not allowed to anoint yourself "America's Team."
They didn't, actually -- I saw an episode of "The Timeline" on NFL Network, a guy at NFL Films was in charge of naming the season retrospectives they did for each team and needed one for Dallas. He picked America's Team because he thought it sounded good, having no idea that it would stick.

I think you've just got to be happy and enjoy every win on its own. They all count the same at the end of the season.
But beyond that, the wins have become more and more decisive and Caleb Williams is flat balling out after a shaky start to the season. If a couple passes go slightly different, the kid could have thrown 6 touchdowns on Sunday. And the Bears defense is a force to be contended with. Personally, I'm glad the Colts played you guys before things started clicking for Williams because I think the Caleb that played in London would have absolutely shredded the Indy defense.
The Colts QB in Anthony Richardson and other #1 overall pick in Bryce Young have never had a game like that, so honestly, just enjoy the ride.
Really good game last night except for the constant flags. Nothing against the NYJ, but I'm glad for Robert Saleh that the Bills won -- he was clearly not the issue in New York, their defense is good and their players play hard for him on that side of the ball. I watched it via ManningCast and that was the feeling among the Manning brothers and Belichick, that Saleh has a bright future and did what he could under the circumstances. Belichick (who I love on the show) didn't outright say it, but I got the feeling that ownership was the reason Bill wouldn't coach in New York. As he said, with Woody Johnson it's, "Ready, Fire, Aim!"
And now what? I think that a mid-season coach firing doesn't usually build a stable and successful team, that's something you need to do in the off-season. The playbooks and roster is set, they are essentially going to have to run Robert Saleh's defensive scheme without Saleh himself. No meaningful changes to the personnel, playbooks, staff, etc. can be made right now. Maybe it'll work out but it looks like a stupid move at this point. I don't know that it made a difference in this game but it could rear its head as the season goes on if they don't start stringing together wins.
The offense started the game well running the ball but sort of abandoned it as the game wore on, which I don't get as it was pretty tight throughout (thanks to that amazing Hail Mary). Rodgers has still got one of the best arms in the NFL, no decline there (but it looks like his running speed and durability has taken a hit). What he doesn't have is great body language, he makes a bad underthrow which leads to a circus catch interception, then sits on the sideline like it's everyone else's fault. Maybe that's not what he was thinking, but it's what he was projecting.
Certainly not sure even a Davonte Adams can save the Jets season, they are way too mistake prone and presently have a kicker who misses FGs (2 losses just because of him).
No way Belichick ever coaches the Jets with Woody there. Usually I don’t blame an owner but decades are going by and he does not have a clue. It’s just a fancy toy to him but the fans have suffered for over 50 years (mostly me).
In other crazy news, Haason Reddick the holdout pass rusher got new representation and is in the market for a trade. The Lions with their injury to Aiden Hutchinson are in the need of a pass rusher.
At least we have the Mets as a distraction for the next week or two.

However Bad You Think Deshaun Watson Has Been, He’s Actually Been Worse Watson isn’t just one of the worst passers in the NFL this season, he’s among the worst quarterbacks we’ve seen this millennium
It’s not just that Watson has been bad. It’s that he’s been one of the worst starting quarterbacks we’ve ever seen. Let’s get to the list of 12 worst stats that describe Watson’s historically horrendous start to this season.
a lottery ticket for the second round and no salary coverage? Smart move by the Raiders, all things considered. And given what a mid 3rd round draft pick is worth, you have to figure it's worth taking a swing from the Jets' perspective, even if they don't make the AFC title game. And if they do, a bottom 4 2nd rounder might as well be a third.
The thing about the Jets so far isn’t even the offense which has sputtered at times (the missed FGs) but the Jets D which was supposed to be elite hasn’t been so far. Maybe they get their act together but if they are giving up 20+ points a game, they are not winning anything.

Sam Darnold, NFL quarterback ‘busts’ are balling around the league Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield are two quarterback busts that have played their way back into the mix on new teams years later.
Since taking over as the Seahawks’ starter in 2022, Geno Smith has thrown 56 touchdowns and been a Pro Bowler in each of his first two seasons, and could very well be heading to his third straight if his play continues. Of all quarterbacks to play at least 250 snaps in that span, Smith ranks third in Completion Percentage Over Expected (CPOE).
Mayfield became the Buccaneers starter in 2023. In his first year in Tampa, the former No. 1 overall pick led the Bucs to an NFC South division title, won a playoff game over the defending NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles, and took a great Detroit Lions team down to the wire in the divisional round. Mayfield ranks ninth in adjusted Expected Points Added (EPA) per play since the start of 2023 (min. 250 plays). He threw for 4,000 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2023, and is currently on pace for 4,218 yards and 42 touchdowns and is as confident as ever.
His 2018 NFL Draft classmate Sam Darnold is the latest example of a guy finding his stride later in his career. After playing for three teams in six years, Darnold seems to have found the perfect spot in Minnesota. His Vikings are one of two remaining undefeated teams in the NFL, and Darnold has at least two touchdown passes in four of those five victories. His 103.4 passer rating is sixth in the NFL and he is 11th in the league in CPOE - one spot ahead of Patrick Mahomes.
So how does this happen? Darnold’s head coach Kevin O’Connell’s rather simple explanation is the easiest way to decode it.
“I believe organizations fail young quarterbacks before young quarterbacks fail organizations.”
[...] So what does this mean? Well, for starters, coaching matters. Once these three found competent offensive minds to be paired with, whether it be as head coach or offensive coordinator, they found success. Dave Canales, Liam Coen, Sean McVay, Kevin O’Connell - all deserve immense credit for the rise of these three quarterbacks. It also means we’re going to see more guys that may have stumbled as early draft picks get more chances. Guys like Daniel Jones, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones may have one of these offensive gurus bring them in as backups initially, but be given opportunities to shine within a system that suits them.
Speaking of struggling QBs, Anthony Richardson is finally healthy enough to play -- hope he learned a few things from Flacco (and about the importance of sliding) and starts to silence the critics this weekend against the Dolphins.
Colts are heading into their toughest stretch of the season after this week, so it would be nice to get the W in a winnable game.
PITTSBURGH -- More than six months after being traded to the New York Jets, Haason Reddick finally has decided to show up for work.
Reddick ended his contract holdout Sunday, the standout edge rusher's agent told ESPN's Adam Schefter, agreeing to an adjusted contract with the Jets.
"We will continue to work towards a long-term extension with the Jets," agent Drew Rosenhaus, who negotiated the adjusted contract along with Ryan Matha, told Schefter.
Reddick will report to the Jets on Monday morning. The two-time Pro Bowler will receive the remainder of his 2024 base salary -- approximately $9 million -- plus new incentives that will allow him to recoup the $12 million he lost in fines. By rule, a team can't waive offseason fines.
Wow can’t believe now he decides to stop the nonsense and play. But will he put any effort into it.

deshaun watson went down with what seems to be an achilles heel tear and will probably miss the rest of the season, and possibly some of next season too.
sadly, as he lay on the field in pain, cleveland fans were cheering.........
what a mess, what a fucking mess......how one guy could ruin an entire franchise, right down to the fans.
possibly the most hated man in cleveland sports history, replacing harvey kuenn.

I agree with your assessment of the Browns, Renny. The one comment I slightly disagree with is "how one guy could ruin an entire franchise." Before Watson, who I despise, and is a despicable human being, you must look at the architects of this fucking mess, the owners, the Haslams. To me, they have been the absolute worst owners in all pro sports, and there is plenty of competition for that top spot. They gave Watson that worst contract ever. He simply said, "Show me the money," and they more than willingly agreed. But you are spot on ... "what a fucking mess!!" A friend of mine from Cleveland, sent me this is yesterday.
