Ah, so it was Insane Clown Posse. You can admit that you're down with the clown.
I can't let this stand, even though it's the football thread. It was Front 242.
Damn, that audience probably could have played tougher than some NFL defenses. Although I have to think it skews older than it used to.
Oh that audience would break some hips these days if they got tackled (including me). But it was a fantastic show, as well as their final US performance ever.
The Bears interim offensive coordinator is now the interim head coach. Good for Thomas Brown, I can remember when he was the running backs coach for the Wisconsin Badgers about 10 years ago. Now he has gone from offensive passing game coordinator to offensive coordinator to NFL head coach in about 1 month. Pretty nice rise up the ladder. Maybe the Bears groundskeeper can be the new playcaller for the offense. The Bears making a strong run at the Jaguars, Browns and Giants to be the NFL's most dysfunctional organization.
The Jets are always leaders in dysfunction!
You are right. My mistake. Now 14 consecutive years without making the playoffs. A remarkable run considering 14/32 = 43.75% of the league makes the playoffs. I know they bumped that from 12 to 14 teams pretty recently, but one still should expect an average franchise to make the playoffs 5 times over a 14 year period. To not make it one single time seems like a pretty big accomplishment.
The Bills biggest problem is the road to a Super Bowl goes through Kansas City not Buffalo. Now if the AFC Championship game was in a blizzard they would have a shot.

I was watching the Jets game and for the first time it was entertaining because there was plenty of offense from both teams and the Jets had a lead through the entire game, till the end of course. It’s always, how will they screw this one up?, we know it’s always coming.
Well the reboot is coming.

Based on this brief video I dug up, it looks like they don't understand how to design plays and Aaron Rodgers is a Bizarro Peyton Manning -- he wants to audible and run the offense, but he's not good at it, likes running predictable plays, and can be confused by coverage disguises. Defenses know what Rodgers will audible to when he sees certain looks, so they'll give him those looks and then drop into a different defense. They also can't run the ball because they don't have good run-blocking tightends.
Rodgers got all the credit for the offensive success with Mike McCarthy and Matt LaFleur, but I guess they deserved more credit than the media gave them -- without the good play calls getting guys open, Rodgers has to be perfect to get anything going and he can't. He believed his own hype.

I don't watch much anymore, but I am in Wisconsin and was watching Packer games start to finish for 10+ years with Rodgers starting. What is in that video is the MO of what the Packers did when he was here. Put their receivers/tight ends in different spots, occasionally do something funky with the running back, let Rodgers pick the mismatch or audible into a mismatch. Throw it to that guy. The offense was 100% about creating mismatches and allowing Rodgers to exploit them. It was not rare to see Rodgers changing plays about 80% of the time.
From that video it seems like the problem is (1) Rodgers is just too old and is not nearly the player he once was (2) the offensive line is not nearly as good as what he had in Green Bay. There was also the other stuff where he changes the play and a rusher is turned loose because someone (offensive lineman/running back) botched the assignment. But if you trade for Rodgers, you need to have guys around him that have mastered that playbook and all the variables that go with it, because he will run the offense.
The guy who probably worked best with Rodgers with the mismatches was Randall Cobb. Everybody thinks of mismatches being the huge WR or TE that is 6'6' and has the huge height advantage. Cobb was smaller, but he was smart, lightning quick, had solid long speed and ran extremely precise routes. He would constantly get matched up against safeties or nickel/dime backs and there was not one of those guys in the league that had a chance against him. Randall was my favorite Packer for about a 5 year run. Great under-rated player.
Also, the Packers have been remarkably good over the last 30 years or so with the offensive line. Generally they tend to have one weak spot, but mostly can put 4 really solid guys out there. But I would say that over a 20 year window, the Packers will have a solid/good/great offensive line 18 out of those 20 years. Then there are the Bears, who will have a shaky/bad/horrible offensive line about 14 out of 20 seasons. It's fashionable to bash on Bears quarterbacks, but they've had just as hard of a time putting a decent offensive line on the field.
I would guess the window for the Jets passed after last years injury, he was never very mobile but now he is a statue and kind of reminds me of when we had Joe Flacco. I am surprised how inaccurate he has been this season, I don’t believe we have seen a long TD pass this season, the Jets don’t have a long ball threat so teams can just box the Jets in.
