Houston doesn't get worse with Dusty leaving. I assure you. If you hate the Astros, root for Dusty to stay.

In 141 years of baseball the Phillies have never had a Game 7.

They do now and I’m nervous as hell!

The MLB playoffs are a crapshoot.

Yeah, I certainly miss the day when the World Series was played between the best team in each league, instead of just the luckiest.

I mean they actually played the games and these teams beat the other teams. Maybe they weren't the best teams? There have been a lot of excuses being made for 100 win teams losing but very few pointing back to they should have taken care of the lesser team when they had the chance.

I understand the argument of watered down playoffs vs. the way it used to work. I get that it is frustrating when a team plays very well for 162 games and then loses to a team that did not play as well during the regular season but got hot late. Having said that, if the better team does not do what they are capable of when it counts, isn't that the definition of a team that doesn't deserve to move forward?

I could easily name six or seven Rangers. Admittedly, it's harder for me to name the D-Backs, as I don't follow the NL.

Still, I read plenty of boxscores the last couple of weeks, so even three Diamondbacks are easy to come up with: Marte,
Pham, Longoria, Ginkel, Sewald. I even have Saalfrank on the brain because I thought the name was weird yesterday.

The Rangers and the D-Backs played some damn fine baseball during the playoffs and I'm excited for their matchup.

Is that the qualification for being in a World Series? Popular players only? I don't understand the point. Most baseball fans follow their own team and the teams that play their team the most.

Plus, we all know that the media selectively covers the large market teams way more than the small market teams. So national popularity is not always indicative of being the best player, considering the lopsided coverage.

To your point though, most people aren't interested in watching these two teams and that is fine, but they beat the other teams to get here so it is what it is.

World Championships aren’t always won by great teams, but by good teams having a great year.

If the Diamondbacks win the World Series, Madison Bumgarner will get another World Series ring.

Congrats to the D-Backs.

With young studs like Carroll, Pfaadt, Thomas, Gallen (went to high school 5 minutes from here), Perdomo and Moreno they are set for a while.

Lovullo did such a great job managing and he clearly out managed Thompson.

The Phillies got arrogant and stopped hitting.

Castellanos was a douche in interviews and finished 0-23.

Turner went 0-14 and the team couldn’t score, even at home.

Will Nola and Hoskins be gone, or will they somehow resign those guys?

And what the hell happened with Walker????

$72 million and he won 15 games and they didn’t let him pitch once in the playoffs and now he’s trashing Thompson online which I find funny.

I won’t watch the World Series, but I’ll root for Arizona.

I just think fans like watching their local teams, and getting people to watch baseball for another month+ is not going to happen. Especially with NFL, NHL, and NBA all going at the same time.

Rooting for Bill White to make the Hall of Fame.

Excellent hitter, great first baseman

First black announcer….who was one of the best ever…called things like he saw them.
Him and Rizzutto weee an awesome team.

President of the National League for a bit.

His book was great…wish he’d write another.

I named my son Philip William after Rizzutto and my grandfather…some folks assumed the William was after Bill White…when questioned I’d reply, that would be ok to think that too.

Bill White - a smart, honest man…a baseball great who should be so honored.

I still can’t believe that Arizona qualified for the playoffs and then WS, winning only 84 games this year, they looked putrid against the Mets when I saw them back in September at Citifield. That team had nothing going on, their bullpen was pummeled by the Mets.
In fact Arizona lost their last 4 games of the year going into the playoffs.

Welcome to the Wild Card baseball world. Just get hot at the right exact time.

But kudos to Texas who were pretty hot most of the year (they did have some injuries) and ended up in a tie for first with Houston (who I thought was gonna prevail).

Nice to have a new team in the circle of World Champions. Texas was created back in 1961 as the Washington Senators to replace the team that moved to Minnesota (a period of expansion that then created the NY Mets in the NL in 62). In 1971 they moved to Arlington and became the Texas Rangers.
