I saw in the article that the proposed A's stadium was to have a partially retractable roof, Jason. vegas definitely needs more traffic. I lived in NY for 46 years. Vegas traffic is a breeze.

Please give the Vegas team a new nickname.
Athletics is unbelievably dated and archaic and has ties to only one city they played in (Philly, where they took their name from the Philadelphia Athletic Club).
Strike three (Philly, KC, Oakland) and you’re out.
Get a new name-it’s not 1901, and they need a name to represent Vegas.
New start, new look, new name.

Aces, I think, although I believe another small club in the area holds that name. Still, throw enough money at them and they'll go away. Aces are typically abbreviated with a big A, so I think it could work cosmetically and even look close to the A's current logo. Save tons of money in not needing to do much redesigning.
Obviously the shape and idea of diamonds fits in well with baseball, and their best batters can certainly be known as the King of Clubs, the players' wive Queens of Hearts, and so on. Just drop a diamond, spade, club icon on the shirt somewhere near the logo, and you're good to go All In!

Baseball values tradition more than any other sport, so I say keep the A's/Athletics name along with the team colours.

**** Manfred and MLB. The Brewers are in the process of swindling another 300 million out of the taxpayers and I would much rather see them pack up and leave town. No joke, 10 years ago I would watch 140 Brewer games from start to finish but I have no interest in what they put on the field now. Just like the NFL, completely dead to me now. I'll still pick up OOTP every 4 years and play that game, historically that has been a pretty good product.

Easy trivia:
Who is the last MLB team to relocate and change their nickname?

The Montreal Expos became the Washington Nationals, I think was the most recent.

I’m heading to Portugal in a week and we are staying in an area of Lisbon that was home to a Worlds Fair Expo in 1998 so that made me and my wife talk about Worlds Fairs (NYC had a famous one in 1964) that my father helped build and we attended many times on weekends and then there was the Montreal Expo in 1967. Out of that Worlds Fair was born the Montreal Expos, a most missed team. Quote: In a political and cultural context, Expo 67 was seen as a landmark moment in Canadian history.[74] In 1968, as a salute to the cultural impact the exhibition had on the city, Montreal's Major League baseball team, the Expos (now the Washington Nationals), was named after the event. 1967 was also the year that invited Expo guest Charles De Gaulle, on July 24, addressed thousands at Montreal City Hall by yelling out the now famous words: "Vive Montréal... Vive le Québec... Vive le Québec Libre!" De Gaulle was rebutted in Ottawa by Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson: "Canadians do not need to be liberated, Canada will remain united and will reject any effort to destroy her unity."[57] In the years that followed, the tensions between the English- and French-speaking communities would continue. As an early 21st-century homage to the fair, satirists Bowser and Blue wrote a full-length musical set at Expo 67 called The Paris of America, which ran for six sold-out weeks at Centaur Theatre in Montreal in April and May 2003.

The New York Worlds Fair in 1964 was a wonderful event for me (I was just turning 5) and I remember much about it (our Disneyland). The grounds of that fair still exist in Flushing Queens and now home to the N.Y. Mets (first Shea Stadium) and now Citifield. If you are ever in NY I recommend a visit to Flushing Meadows Park and walk around the fair grounds where the Unisphere still exists and the space age NY Pavillion (used in the movie Men In Black). There is also the Queens Museum where they had a Ramones exhibit back in July of 2016 and also has an exact replica of the entire NYC region laid out on the floor (there is a walkway above it).

Las Vegas Red Rocks (after the nearby natural Red Rocks Canyon park)
Las Vegas Strats (after the hotel)
Las Vegas Paradise (community next door)
Though I also think they will keep the A’s.

Beautiful Shea Stadium in the background with its original pop art tiles. Citi Field is starting to look nice on the inside, thanks to Uncle Steve, but the outside is still an eyesore with its totally wrong Ebbets Field design. I doubt anything can be done about that. Yet another thing to thank the Wilpons for.

Joey “The Crime Family” Luchessi (a N.Y. name if there ever was one) pitches lights out last night! What great timing (with Scherzer on the shelf for 10 days).

Though I also think they will keep the A’s. I might go with the Las Vegas Airmen. Nellis AFB is nearby and they could still be called the A's. Plus their minor league team is the Las Vegas Aviators. It might be called sexist, but if and when a woman plays for the team they could revisit the name.

Yawn, it seems they’re keeping the name to honor the “heritage.”
The heritage of a team with four homes and a possum living in the press box.
