A really crappy day for music with the passing of Dan McCafferty and now Jeff Cook.
If you’re a fan of actual Country music, you know how legendary Alabama are.
A mind-boggling amount of hit singles, albums and sold-out tours.
27 singles went to #1 on the Country charts.
It’s true they also made loads of schlocky AC/Pop songs, but the real Country music was often good, if not heavily cliched.
Cook was an underrated guitar player and songs like “Mountain Music” had some nice playing, though he didn’t get to do many solos.
I interviewed him for my book just before he became ill and it was cool to learn about a different style of playing from him.
