I was just over at musictap this evening rather than in the usual evening spot to see if I could get a jump on some early reporting for tomorrow's slot when I read the news that Soul great Luther Ingram has passed away. If any of you listened to AM Top 40 back in the early '70's, you did not escape from hearing the totally sung with conviction song about an affair "(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want To Be Right". I am greatly saddened at the news of this loss.
I was still here in Eugene my first time around (and about ready to move back to Santa Clara, CA when I was exposed to this wonderful song on my local KEED Eugene. It was the Summer of '72. It didn't matter that I didn't know what it was about, but the delivery of the vocal was all my young ears needed in order to fully understand that this was a great song for the ages. I am so thankful for having had him as a part of my musical life. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

Sad loss. I've got two of his original albums on CD, "If Loving You is Wrong" and "Let's Steal Away to the Hideaway" that I treasure. That man could really bring emotion to a song.
