FYI
deshaun watson has led the cleveland browns offense to exactly one touchdown in the 4 games he has started.
baker mayfield would have, without a single doubt or question in my head, done a far better job, and most likely would have gotten the browns into the playoffs this year.

Denver Broncos fire coach Nathaniel Hackett after 4-11 start. Maybe he should take Russell Wilson with him, as he exits stage left. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/353 ... 4-11-start

All I can say is that that was one of the worst things I’ve seen in professional sports and I’m praying for Hamlin to survive this scary incident.
Why it took the NFL an hour to suspend this game is unconscionable.

It didn’t take an hour to postpone the rest of the game. It took an hour for the NFL to tell us. I think the players walked off the field knowing they weren’t finishing the game, but there was protocol to go thru, and I think the NFL was waiting to hear from the hospital.

I didn't watch the game but I did see several news reports saying this was unprecedented. I also know that when I was 11 I saw Lions WR Chuck Hughes die on the field.

The players were the ones who decided to walk off the field and call the game and both coaches agreed. The NFL offices then sent a rep with her cellphone to talk to both coaches. On top of that, all the fans sat there with no announcement until an hour had passed. I don’t see how they even finish the game, and they shouldn’t. A number of fans went to the hospital from both teams, which was amazing to see. The reports have Hamlin having his vitals as stable but he’s been out to sleep with a breathing tube. I hope he can get out of this and his family and teammates can talk to him again.

Very scary watching that live. At first, I figured he just got knocked out for a bit and they were being overly cautious, but then when it continued on so long and I heard about the CPR, I feared the worst.
They say he suffered a cardiac arrest... I wonder if he has an undiagnosed heart condition like Chuck Hughes did? Hoping and praying he recovers 100%. I can't imagine how his mother felt in the stands.

Why it took the NFL an hour to suspend this game is unconscionable. I'm actually amazed they suspended it... this is actually more respectful and considerate than they've been in the past, as Dante Stallworth noted -- Quote: Former National Football League player Donté Stallworth noted the difference in the league's attitude to player's safety as witnessed in its reaction to Buffalo Bills' Damar Hamlin's collapse at Monday night's game.
“There’s been instances where players have been carted off, players have been taken off by ambulance and within five or 10 minutes the game has resumed," Stallworth told CNN on Tuesday morning. "We’ve never seen a game postponed because of an injury. Usually, games are postponed because of weather or some other kind of event that is not an injury."
"What we saw yesterday ... that’s a different NFL today than it was five, 10, 15 years ago,” he added.

i hope hamlin is fine and gets the heart help he needs. he is young and strong and that is a very good thing.
one would think that the NFL, and all pro sports for that matter, would do a very very thorough physical (and mental) test on every player that is their respective leagues.
but, not knowing about such things makes me wonder, if even an extreme physical would show some heart problems in a person. i would have guess that the heart is tested in every way possible way, but again, since i do not have any idea, would something like this even show up on a preventative test.
i, personally, just went through a battery of tests on my heart, all things pointed to that fact that my heart is very healthy, but as my doctor (who is also a personal friend) said, it does not mean i won't drop over tomorrow with a heart anomaly at my age.
had this been caused by something occurring with the tackle we would be looking at much more serious NFL consequences.

Terrible to see it happen, really hope for the best for Hamlin. There was no way they could play that game last night after what the players saw happening on the field in front of them. This wasn't like other injuries, where a guy may be laid out but it's clear they're just being cautious, or that they will likely be ok. The other players looked traumatized. Never seen anything like it. Speculation (and that is all that this is) is that it was a freak hit in just the right place at just the wrong time that knocked his heart out of rhythm and caused a cardiac arrest. This has happened before in other sports, including lacrosse and baseball. There was nothing dirty or illegal, or even questionable about the play, just terrible luck.
The Bills and Bengals have had a special "brother team" relationship for a long time now, so it wasn't surprising to me to see the camaraderie and universal support between the fans last night.

Having a cardiac event while so many medical personnel were present, may have been a blessing that saved his life.

Scary scenario, and I hope everything works out okay for him. I don't want to speculate on root cause, since we don't know for sure, but with the news that this is a cardiac arrest scenario, and not a heart attack, it seems to me that it's similar to a heart punch scenario, when a strong blow to the chest at just the wrong time, can create an arrythmia / arrest situation with the heart.
At least that's what I hope it was. Otherwise, its a permanently life altering situation for the young man.

Thankfully other than some Twitter trash he's not getting flack for something completely random and beyond his control.

Goodell released a letter with this information -- Quote: A short time ago, and after discussions with the two teams and the NFLPA, we advised Buffalo and Cincinnati that last night’s game will not be resumed this week. No decision has been made regarding the possible resumption of the game at a later date and we have not announced any changes to this weekend’s schedule. We will promptly advise all clubs of any decisions that are made regarding these matters. Obviously Damar Hamlin's health is all that matters, but I am curious to see how this impacts the rest of the season since the playoffs are soon and this game would presumably have had major seeding implications.

Heart conditions are so hard to really figure out - really, the entire body is such an amazingly complex piece of machinery it’s s wonder we function perfectly as often as we do. My father in law had a heart “episode” a few years ago and passed out while driving on the freeway and wound upon an embankment on the side of the road (luckily, because a few hundreds yards later and he might’ve gone off an elevated section of the road). For the next year and change, they monitored and tested his heart, even implanting a monitor that relayed daily heart activity to the doctors. They never did find out exactly what happened.

It's so incredible to see a team work so hard to give up the first draft pick this coming spring. Kudos to the Houston Texans for handing the first pick to the Chicago Bears! Wild finish!

Now that he got sacked he didn't leave his successor in a perfect starting point and his final game was one of the most exciting wins of the entire season! Him and the players won that game for themselves! Now That Chicago has the number one pick, Bears fans are basking in the sunlight like BEAR DOWN, BABY!!!!!!
