Kinda shocking the Giants are 4-1... also the Cowboys too since they aren't playing their starter.

Maybe, since the Jets dominated the Packers but the Giants followed it up with a 24-20 win over the Ravens.

I think that perhaps the Giants and the Jets are pretty good? Is that possible?

Big win for the Colts and a big day for Matt Ryan, who played lights out -- by sheer coincidence, the offensive line played much better yesterday as well. It's almost as if they effect the QB somehow. He threw for just under 400 yards with three TDs and a 72% completion rate, and no fumbles or interceptions.

Colts badly needed this win, as they were 0-2-1 in division games -- a loss yesterday and next week against the Titans would basically end any hopes of a playoff berth. The win moves them to 3-2-1, a winning record finally, and a win next week would really put them in control of their own destiny moving forward. Fingers crossed!

Anyway, back to Ryan --

  • Ryan set a Colts franchise record for completions in a game with 42

  • Ryan put up his 37th game winning drive (fourth all-time)

  • It was also his 44th fourth quarter comeback (sixth all-time)

  • Ryan also now has 61,500 yards and has passed Dan Marino on the all time passing yards list, making him seventh (he's currently 9th on all time TDs, but I don't know that he'll catch Big Ben until next season, if he makes it that far)

And --

Zak Keefer wrote:
Believe it or not, Matt Ryan's now led four fourth-quarter comebacks in six starts as the Colts QB.

He's also led three game-winning drives, one in each of the Colts' three wins.

Who’s still the only undefeated team?

The Eagles.

Easily beat Dallas last night 26-17.

They fell asleep in the 3rd quarter but answered back immediately.

The D is outstanding.

A bye week and 6-0 sounds very nice right now.

Yes, and both teams are identical.

They each have underachieving, lousy QBs who have been created into game managers.

Each have an awesome running game and D combo and very good special teams.

Each have coaches who have the respect of the players.

And they both play in the same stadium!

Man, I'm really shocked by how poorly Russell Wilson is doing in Denver. He's only 33, so he should still be in his physical prime and the mistakes don't seem to be based on a decline of his athleticism.

As the pundits keep pointing out, he's failing to make simple reads and throws to wide open receivers directly in front of him. These are reads and throws so simple I'm not sure you can say it's from him feeling uneasy in a new system... we're talking checkdowns to tightends five yards downfield. It's like he's making pre-determined reads and if they don't pan out, he won't move on through his progressions quickly enough to avoid a sack or throwaway.

I remember feeling jealous that Denver got Russ instead of Indy but based on everything the Broncos gave up for him AND a million year contract worth a bajillion dollars, this looks like a bullet every NFL team is glad they dodged. Maybe he'll start cooking later in the season but geez, this is kinda nuts.

This is absolutely nuts. I'm all for it, my father's side is all from New York, but wowsers.

I'm wondering if that injury from a couple of seasons ago has caused him to lose something on his arm strength permanently. I haven't watched too much this season but when I have seen him, he is underthrowing badly, even on touch passes, not just deep stuff.

Perhaps, but I've been seeing analysis that he's making bad reads. Two famous examples from the past two games (one on third down and one to win the game) --

Pretty sure it’s mental. I don’t think he’s focused on football anymore, judging by the recent comments from his former teammates…

Yeah, I agree.

It looks like he’s checked out and totally unprepared.

I mean, these mistakes and horrid throws are not just from injury.

Six weeks in and they look like a USFL team.

The route running is awful, the O-Line blows and the running game is abysmal.

That being said, to have an inept boob coaching and calling the plays with non-stop embarrassing failure every week isn’t helping.

Wilson has no zip on the ball, zero accuracy and seems to be guessing where the WRs and TEs are going to be.

They have the worst red zone offense by far (it’s offensive).

It actually looks like a bunch of kids bumbling around.

9 yards of passing offense in the second half AND OT?

And he can’t and won’t run anymore.

Yikes.

Russ needs to go away, but I can give you $250 million reasons why he won’t.

Hackett is a dead man walking with the new idiotic, clueless billionaire owners, so why not fire him
now???

Wilson is atrocious and should be ashamed.

I was away for 3 weeks, and for 3 weeks the Jets won and won and won, so yesterday with me finally watching them once again I was hoping I am not a bad luck bringer.
And alas they controlled the Broncos without much trouble and Zack Wilson and Co did enough to get the win. :)
4 wins in a row, what universe am I in?
Losing Breece Hall is a big blow, that kid was quickly becoming a highlight film in the NFL.

Wow, the Colts are benching Matt Ryan for the remainder of the season. I supposed there's a chance that the sixth rounder Sam Ehlinger will be better behind that porous offensive line, but I'm guessing this is essentially a way to tank the rest of the season and get a nice draft pick in a draft that is supposed to have a lot of blue chip QBs... and I suppose they can always get lucky and find out Ehlinger is the next Tom Brady.

At 1-3-1 in the AFC South and having been swept by the Titans yet again, there's not much chance of making the playoffs despite it only being week 7.

Here's a fact I ran into yesterday that made me pause for a few...

Quote:
11 of the NFC's 16 teams - including the entire South Division - are currently .500 or worse. The first place Seahawks and Vikings are the only squads in the Conference with winning records outside of the NFC East.
