Spent all day yesterday traveling to Hawaii and missed the games. When we were getting on our second flight of the day to Kauii, the TSA guy says to me Congrats your team won! I said they did? :)

The photo is the view from our condo in Kauii.

I don't know if they roll their eyes, but the local drivers are quite active with their horns. At least they were when I was there - but only for people who were posing instead of walking.

Glad to see they killed the Pro Bowl finally.

But flag football should draw a nice zero rating.

Interesting look at how the Colts can right the ship on offense -- reduce turnovers and pressure on the QB. It's abnormal for an offense with this kind of production to be so bad in terms of producing points. Some reason for hope, perhaps!

Quote:
Historically speaking, the worst offenses in the league are the ones that struggle to throw the ball with any consistency and ones that simply fail at moving the ball from point A to point B. The Colts, weirdly, aren't necessarily struggling in either department.

The Colts currently have the fourth-most passing yards in the NFL with 1,125. Even if you subtract yardage lost due to sacks, the Colts are still inside of the top ten in passing yards. The team is also moving the ball efficiently through the air, as quarterback Matt Ryan is averaging a healthy 7.3 yards per attempt (9.6 yards per attempt against the Titans in week four).

The big plays have also been there for the Colts, as they are tied for 11th in the league in big plays (rushes over 10 yards and completions over 20 yards). In fact, the team is actually third in passing plays over 20 yards this season with 16:

Even the advanced stats favor the Colts in terms of moving the ball. Series success rate is an advanced stat that looks at the rate in which a series starting with first down earns a new first down (or touchdown) on that series.

The Colts' offense is rating remarkably high in this metric, having a series success rate of over 70% on the year. To throw even more stats that are usually indicative of offensive success at you, the Colts' offense actually ranks 13th in the NFL in third down conversion rate at 39.62%.

So, in summary of all this statistical mumbo jumbo, the Colts have been consistently moving the ball this season and are at least league average in several favorable predictable statistics for offensive success. The only problem is that they can't seem to turn that into points.

Why is that? Well, let's jump to the next part of this piece.

I think it may be the worst NFL game I've ever seen... or at least in recent memory.

Some Colts fans have been blaming Ryan for being washed, but what can he do with this offensive line? He's probably getting beat up worse now than Andrew Luck did. Last year, he was the most hit QB after 13 weeks with 65 total. He's already got 45 through just five games!

Texans 7 QB Hits, 2 Sacks
Jags 11 QB Hits, 5 Sacks
Chiefs 10 QB Hits, 5 Sacks
Titans 5 QB Hits, 3 Sacks
Broncos 12 QB Hits, 6 Sacks

TOTAL: 45 QB Hits, 21 Sacks

What pocket passer -- or hell, any passer -- is going to play well? We're lucky if he's able to finish the season, he's getting the crap kicked out of him!

Yikes.

Quote:
For nearly an hour after Thursday’s abomination of a football game ended, Russell Wilson sat motionless at his locker. He refused to take off his shoulder pads, refused to stand, to shower. A few teammates stopped by on their way to the showers; defensive tackle D.J. Jones patted Wilson on the shoulder pad; offensive tackle Billy Turner pulled Wilson in for a hug. Wilson scrolled through his phone, spoke in hushed tones with his backup, Brett Rypien, and later was joined in a long conversation with his head coach, Nathaniel Hackett, and running back Melvin Gordon.

“We shoulda won it,” Wilson said. “That’s on me.”

I still think Wilson was an integral part of the Seahawks success for the better part of a decade, but really don’t think his focus has been on maintaining or improving as a player. Lots of people here say he sold out for the glitz and glamor, and there’s probably some truth to that. I think he’s also allowed himself to influenced by some shady folks, like his personal consultant for all that positivity/mindfulness stuff. At the end of the day, on the field play is based on skill, and you don’t get better by thinking happy thoughts and doing Stuart Smalley affirmations.

Carroll knew what he was doing.

Wilson was already washed last year.

He can’t (and refuses) to run and now awkwardly sits in the pocket making decisions a high schooler wouldn’t even make.

He throws over heads, at feet, out of bounds, out of the end zone and with no zip or accuracy at all.

He’s a complete loser at this point and he and Hackett deserve each other.

He should be so ashamed.

A $250 million embarrassment for a franchise that has NO clue how to find even a remotely decent QB.

Lock, Osweiler, Flacco, Lynch, Semian, Keenum…need I go on?

Another year, another broken Seahawks running back.

And who could’ve guessed the weak point of the teamwas going to be the defense? (Not that the offense is all that great)

Eagles are 5-0.

Didn’t play anywhere near the level they’re capable of and still won 20-17 over Arizona.

Hurts had 2 rushing TDs.

Eagles 5-0, NY 4-1, Dallas 4-1 and Washington don’t count.

The NFC East is back.

Big upset win for the Giants! The D shut out Aaron Rodgers and the Packed in the second half and Daniel Jones played a gutsy game while hurt. Plus, Saquon Barkley.

Another huge win for a NY team! The Jets spank the Dolphins 40-17! RBs Breece Hall and Michael Carter led the way as the Jets had 5 rushing TDs. Zach Wilson was mistake free and CB Sauce Gardner is the real deal.
