https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/mo- ... 25069.htmlMo Ostin, head of Reprise Records and Warner Brothers over decades, died Sunday at 95. Hired by Frank Sinatra to run Reprise in 1960. Had a hand in TONS of great music over the years, and ran the labels with an artist focus, not a bottom line focus. There's a story in the article about how the Red Hot Chili Peppers ended up on Warner. They were being courted by several labels, and they decided to go w/someone other than Warner. Ostin called to congratulate them, and they decided to change their minds.
There is a book out called
Sonic Boom that covers the Warner Brothers story. Excellent read if you have an interest in that stuff.
RIP, sir, and thank you.
