Nirvana: Bleach, Nevermind, Incesticide, and In Utero.

The Doors: The Doors, Strange Days, Waiting For the Sun.

Ozzy Osbourne: Blizzard of Ozz, Diary of a Madman, Bark at the Moon and Ultimate Sin.

Nine Inch Nails: Pretty Hate Machine, Broken, and The Downward Spiral.

Just listened to Fly Like An Eagle and Book of Dreams, and still think them a pair of perfection.

I'd add Glass Houses to that.

There's so many great runs here, and I'm sure if we look, we can probably find 3-4 album runs for every hall of fame worthy act. So here's a few more pairs I haven't seen mentioned yet

Limiting myself to specific pairs of albums:

Metallica - Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets
Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt 1 and 2
Slipknot - S/T and Iowa
The Black Crowes - Shake Your Money Maker and The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion
Blind Guardian - Imaginations from the Other Side and Nightfall (bit of a cheat, since there was a covers album in between them)
Skid Row - S/T and Stave to the Grind
Cinderella - Night Songs and Long Cold Winter
Ozzy Sabbath - Paranoid and Master of Reality
Dio Sabbath - Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules
Rainbow - Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and Rising

I'm sure I can find others - and I don't see Zeppelin being mentioned at all yet - but these would be the transformational pairs that I can think of that were back to back absolute greatness.

Bob Dylan had a spectacular run. Joy Division only had two albums, but holy moley...
