Time to start the new thread.

So far, I'm keeping it light this year. Not thrilled with the way cases have been shooting up here, but it's also been fairly light for what's been announced. I have Steven Wright later this month, and Ghost in February.

There is a Randy Rhoads tribute act coming in a couple weeks. Not sure if I want to go to that or not.

Still a couple arena shows I've got some interest in, most notable John Mayer. I may check out Journey tix, and Eagles tix go on sale later this week. No word on whether they include closing costs of the mortgage in the ticket fees.

I've got tickets for three shows coming to my area of NC in April and May: Steve Hackett (postponed from 2020 & then 2021), Del Amitri (their first US tour in 25 years) and Joe Jackson. Fingers crossed that all three will happen.

I have tickets for Pat Metheny, Ringo Starr and Herb Alpert over the next few months. I will be surprised if any of them happen.

Jeff Tweedy shows, which were end of 2021 and beginning of 2022, were postponed. Next up is Sparks at Disney Concert Hall and Janis Ian at McCabe's.

Just added It Was 50 Years Ago Today: A Tribute to The Beatles with Todd Rundgren and Friends at Westbury Music Fair in March! My wife will like that show.

Todd's Beatles tributes have been excellent. We saw the one with Mickey Dolenz, Christopher Cross, and Joey Molland. Would go again in a heartbeat.

They just announced Dirty Honey with MammothWVH (Wolfie's band). I'd love to see MammothWVH - but that's the night of Alice Cooper. Maybe next time.

We were due to see Jim Jefferies Friday night. Came home Thursday after getting dinner, and my son said it was postponed due to Covid in his family.

I'm 0-1. Batting next, Stephen Wright, with Ghost on deck.

And they just announced that Todd's Beatles thing is coming here.

I was supposed to see Pat Metheny on Jan. 31, but was notified today that it's rescheduled for Sept. 12.

The Halestorm/Evanescence show scheduled for Pittsburgh tonight (postponed from December due to Covid) has been cancelled. The bands were unable to get to town due to the snowstorm and closed roads. For whatever reason, it's being listed as cancelled, not postponed, with a message to look for refund information.

Steve Vai has postponed his date here on LI to October. Luckily that date works for me because I will be in Hawaii for most of October.

Now I just have to see if TOOL makes it to LI and the Todd & Friends Beatles tour in February/March.

Vai postponed here as well, and Steven Wright, too. I did get tix for the Beatles thing.

The good news is this latest variant is declining quickly around here and should be at low levels by the end of Feb. That was some spike in late December.

I think I've mentioned this before, but my version of the "showed up at work/school naked" dream is that I'm sitting at home and someone reminds me that there's a concert that night that I have tickets to and I forgot to go.

Almost happened.

My buddy texted me the other day and said, "Did you know Ana Popovic is here next week or am I getting senile?" My first response was "How the hell did I miss that?" I get e-mails from this place, and I see stuff from them pretty often. No recollection. Look in my phone - it's not on my calendar. Not on the calendar in the kitchen. Check the web site, start to look for tickets, and I see it's through Eventbrite. So I sign into my account...and there are my tickets from the day they went on sale. For some reason, I never put it on either calendar. I freaking hate electronic ticketing.

But I'm going to see Ana next week.

Love Ana, see her almost every time she plays either NYC or LI. Closest this tour gets to me is Montclair NJ. I have an Ana story from Feb 2020. The last time I was in the Iridium (hard to believe it’s now 2 years!), I got to the venue early so I can get a seat close to the stage. It was raining that evening so the girl at the front let me stand inside on the stairs. So here I am at the entrance to the club and every few minutes the band comes down the stairs, and I act like the doorman opening the door for them.
Then suddenly here comes Ana with her guitar and bag and I open the door for her. Not a hello but I’m sure she didn’t want to engage anyone before sound check and probably thought oh jeez, another crazy fan. She would be right! :)
I’m the same way when I preparing for something, need to be focused etc.

Anyway I got to hear the soundcheck and did sit in front of her at the show.
She is always good.
And that was the last time I was in NYC for a show at the Iridium.

Just got tickets to see The Who at Madison Square Garden in May. Going with Jimbo’s concert going friend from way back Chris Sannella and it will be our first time together not only since Jimbo’s death but also Covid. So it will be a pretty special night back in NYC.

That Who tour isn't coming closer than about 3-3.5 hours to me.

I'm not saying I'm out. I'm just saying it's not all that close.

The Who with an orchestra again?

I’ll probably pass.

But Journey/Toto and Opeth/Mastodon I hope to attend.

And Ghost this weekend.
