Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd.

RIP to a true legend. Damn. Just a couple weeks before the West Side Story remake.

He was a genius with lyrics. My favorite of his shows is "Into the Woods," with "Company" and his lyrics for "West Side Story" very close behind. Rest in peace, Mr. Sondheim. Thank you for your music and insights into human behavior and emotions through your wonderful words.

"Sometimes people leave you / halfway through the wood. / Do not let it grieve you. / No one leaves for good. / No one is alone."

I was involved with a theater troupe that would do one of his shows every season (starting with a concert version of Follies in the unfinished and a little dangerous hall - which was PERFECT). Many had never been performed in our town. Sweeney Todd was my first MIND BLOWN experience back in the '80s and it just went from there. The core of the troupe were The Ladies Who Lunch - they would visit SS when in NYC, send him champagne on his birthday and generally keep in touch. He was a titan, but also a decent man who enjoyed the little things, like a visit from a group of women from Ohio who had no agenda beyond an afternoon of conversation and laughter.

Thank you, for the words, the word play and the plays.

Titan is certainly appropriate. Rest In Peace, Mr. Sondheim.
