I am shocked and saddened by Charlie's passing.

He was the rock of that band and propelled them through so many great songs and albums.

And once the shock registered, I thought of Jimbo, as The Stones were his favorite band.

A true legend and a great loss for The Stones and rock and roll.

RIP Charlie, say hello to Jimbo up there, he’s the guy waving at the Pearly Gates.

Not to minimize this sad news, and it's definitely R.I.P. for Charlie Watts, but since the band was already moving forward, this isn't going to be the end of the Stones. Now when one of the Glimmer Twins goes, so will the Stones and rightfully so.

I’m really appalled, pissed and disappointed to read your comment. IMHO, it’s totally insensitive and inappropriate. You’re entitled to your opinion as to whether or not the Stones continue, etc. Just not in this thread. This is a thread specifically to recognize the death of a musical icon and an appreciation of his place in musical history. If you want to opine on the Stones future, there is a thread for that purpose, it’s titled The Rolling Stones. I suggest you take your opinions there.

Yeah, that wasn’t a great thing to read, I agree.

I’m still very sad about this news on a personal level and I found that comment inappropriate,

I don’t think it came out how WalterP meant it though.

The night it all changed for me and Jimmy.

Mick, Keith, Ronnie, Bill and Charlie. I remember being stunned by Charlie’s short haircut.

I specifically recall looking at Charlie and Bill thinking “how do they keep this all together so easily”.

Just the guys, no horns or backup singers.

(Oh yeah, and Billy Preston and Ian Stewart covering the keys)

We both loved Charlie all these years.

RIP my rhythmic brother.

I think I'm especially sad when drummers die. They're the rock of the band. They're the one everybody follows. I'm glad I was at some Stones concerts so I could see Charlie Watts in person. It was (and still is) just so hypnotic to watch him play. Always doing the right thing at the right time. R.I.P. Charlie Watts, and thank you.

Very sad news. I was afraid this was coming all too soon when they announced he would not be part of the upcoming shows due to an unspecified "procedure". RIP to one of the greatest.

I have been fortunate to see Charlie and the Stones live three times (1975, 1997, 2015). A great drummer and a true gentleman. RIP Charlie and thanks for the memories.

Great picture with Bill. Charlie emblazoned with the company logo. The two anchors of the greatest rhythm section in the history of R&R!

Watts meets legendary jazz drummer Stan Levey for the first time:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6KqlUV ... =11&t=230s

Levey played with Charlie Parker during the early days of bebop and Watts is in awe. Jim Keltner appears here as well; some incredible drum history in one room.
