red sox get 2 pitchers (adam ottovino and mike german) and some cash for ......i don;t know.......they say cash considerations (but if they gave boston cash?) and the infamous later considerations.
ottovino was a good fit in new york, his 2019 numbers are stunning, 2020, not so much.

Yeah. Otto can be very good but he gets into his head a bit and couldn't be used in the playoffs in both years.
1.) I agree with Linda that Atlanta should change their name to the Hammers - it would be a fitting tribute to Hammering Hank - one that he deserves and it would solve a problem that they will eventually have to address. 2.) I still have faith in Otto - I don't think you could judge anyone off of 2020. I also think that the Sox might just move him along also due to the soft salary cap that has seemed to develop in MLB 3.) Unless they change the cap - either eliminate it or push it up - I think we might see a work stoppage next year...maybe MLB also needs a salary floor? 4.) With their recent moves - a Yankees Mets subway series seems to be clearly in sight for October 2021. 5.) No one will get into the HOF today - Barry and Roger due to steroids and Curt due to his mouth - too bad as all three belong. 6.) Gardy will return to the Yanks soon.

The New York Mets have formally offered free-agent starter Trevor Bauer a contract that would make him one of baseball’s highest-paid players on an annual average salary, a person with direct knowledge of the negotiations told USA TODAY Sports.
The deal would approach -- but not eclipse -- New York Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole’s $36 million average value on his nine-year, $324 million contract signed a year ago, and it would be much shorter in length, said the person, who was granted anonymity because of the on-going negotiations.

This report is already being walled back. It is Bob Nightengale, after all.
DH won't be in the NL for 2021, and there won't be extended playoffs. Manfred wanted to save both as bargaining chips.
The four supposed finalists for expansion are Montreal, Charlotte, Vegas and Portland. Two east, two west. Nashville seemed like a safer choice than Portland, but Mighty Manfred has his reasons.
The Mets have brought back Omar Minaya as an "ambassador" (to get the best Latin American signees, WAN assumes). Rehiring one of the culprits from the #LOLMets era makes me sad.

Charlotte isn't into baseball and almost everywhere is safer than Portland.
i certainly do not agree with his politics at all, but his baseball numbers are impeccable, i don't know how voters get the right to vote, but some scrutiny needs to be involved when it comes to picking voters. politics should have noting whatsoever to do with baseball.
even omar vizquel lost votes after his domestic problems back home in venezuela. also should have nothing to do with his baseball numbers, which, by the way, are not at all unlike ozzie smith, who is in the hall, as omar should be.

The Hall has a character and integrity clause for voters to consider. Dejan Kovacevic of DKPittsburghSports has a column about this. He pointed the column mostly at Bonds, Clemens, and Sosa. (Schilling was one of three he voted for.) He said as long as the Hall includes the clause - and it is their clause, and has been part of the process since the first ballot in 1936 - voters are to consider that when voting. Someone asked about post-baseball behavior and whether that should be included, but he said the Hall does not specify that, so it's up to the individual voters.

I wonder if they'll call them the "Carolina (Team Name)", not Charlotte and not even a North or South.

Well, it is the Carolina Panthers but there is a AAA team that has been here for years called the Charlotte Knights. They're a White Sox affiliate and have been with the Orioles and Indians.
I see that the Twins have reached an agreement with free agent shortstop Andrelton Simmons on a one-year, $10.5MM contract. That should move Polanco to 2B and turn Arraez into the super utility role. Today was the day to get shortstops and infielders it looks like.
