My first memory of Whitey Ford is fuzzy. He was on the field during Mickey Mantle’s day when they retired his number “7” in 1969. I’m almost sure they interviewed him saying he was Mickey’s best friend on the team. I was eight at the time.
236-106 and a 2.75 career ERA. Pretty stellar.
