I just heard that my boyhood hero Tom Seaver passed away earlier today. I’m reading it’s from COVID 19 , complications from Lyme disease and dementia. This is so sad , growing up on Long Island and going to many Mets games from1967 on , I saw The Franchise pitch many many times. RIP Tom Terrific , the greatest Met ever ! I will always have the great memories , many of them. Thank You Tom

Not just one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history , he was a class act and fierce competitor.
Rest In Peace

That is very sad. He was a great pitcher. RIP. I recall that his back knee used to brush against the mound when he pitched, so after a couple of innings there was a dirty spot on the right knee of his otherwise clean uniform. It was kind of amusing to see, but you knew he was throwing hard!

I was lucky enough to see him pitch in 1984. 311 victories, 231 complete games. RIP

Even when i first started watching baseball in the Early 80's, he was still a force to be reckoned with, and something to behold.
RIP, Tom Terrific, and my sympathies to all the Mets and Reds fans out there. Hell, for this one, my sympathies to anyone who was a baseball fan.

The greatest Met of all time and one of the all time greats period. I was such a fan of his back in the days when I followed sports. This makes me so sad.

RIP. I remember when I was very young my Reds got him and we thought the Big Red Machine would win win many more titles. It was not to be, but certainly not due to Tom Terrific.

Even though I am a lifelong Yankee fan, I always had great respect for Tom Terrific. I loved it when he became a broadcaster for the Yankees with Phil Rizzuto. The banter between them was priceless. RIP Mr. Seaver.

Here's my ticket stub from the Mets' Opening Day in 1983, when Seaver came back for one year.

Only been to one pro game in my life. Seaver (w.Reds) vs. Carlton in the early 80s at Veterans Stadium. Loads of giants in the house that night: Bench, Rose, Schmidt, Bowa, Maddox. Still have there ticket stub and program.
