Although he may have reached his largest audience with SNL, when I think of Hal I think of the breath of air he gave Marianne Faithful's career with Strange Weather, the many music tributes he produced (Lost in the Stars and Stay Awake being two of my favorites), and one of the most legendary shows I ever witnessed, The Harry Smith Project at UCLA in 2001. As a matter of fact, I mention that show so much I was just talking about it yesterday.

On another note, speaking of Marianne Faithful she has also been diagnosed with covid-19 and is hospitalized.

R.I.P., Hal. 64 is too young. Damn bug.

I haven't watched SNL in so long I didn't even know he was involved with it.

In addition to the projects mentioned , I loved the " Rogues Gallery " discs.
I just saw that I 2008 he did something with the recently passed Bill Withers. I'll have to check that out.
