Twas the night before Christmas, and over at ICE Not a creature was stirring, not even some mice. Bradley was nestled all snug in his bed The music of Patsy Cline played in his head. JohnG was enjoying some holiday cheer While DanO was kicking back with a beer. Robert was singing “I Love L.A.” Steve F. was out driving Ventura Highway. Walter was hoping for CDs from Santa While Jay was out shopping for discs in Atlanta. Up near Santa’s workshop sat our buddy Vennie Not far from the Rock Hall sat our buddy Renny. Chris K adopted the alias “Kringle” And Dave in V-A heard sleigh bells a-jingle. Kym was relaxing on Waikiki Beach A pina colada within easy reach. The red-headed Linda was set to make merry after wrapping up business at the li-berry. (The rest of you guys, I didn’t forget I just haven’t thought of good rhymes for you yet!) And I had just settled in front of the telly For a quick snack of peanut butter and jelly. When out on the sidewalk there arose a loud crash! I flew to the window and threw up the sash! And what did my wondering eyes there behold? A group of old rockers standing out in the cold! The leader, he walked with a confident swagger I knew in a flash in must be Mick Jagger! Keith Richard appeared to be just skin and bones I thought to myself “It must be the Stones!” No chimney for these guys, they walked in the door And set up their amps on my living room floor. The second guitarist, a young Brian Jones? How is it possible? Send in the clones! Another guitarist, dressed as a sailor Ay caramba, I thought, it must be Mick Taylor! Another guitarist—this is better than good! Only one option left, must be Ron Wood! The bassist displayed such impeccable timin’ I knew it could only be good ol’ Bill Wyman! Seeing the drummer just caused me to plotz A right jolly old elf, name of Charlie Watts! They went straight to their work, no opening act. They rocked and they rolled, and that is a fact! The concert was great, I recall to this day The titles of all the songs they did play. The opener was, of course, “Start Me Up” Then came the lesser-well-known “Loving Cup” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Street Fighting Man” Even Mick’s solo b-side “Catch as Catch Can” The did “Angie” and “Happy” and “She’s Like a Rainbow” From “Emotional Rescue” came “Where the Boys Go” While some men his age are laid up in traction Mick was still singing ‘bout no satisfaction! Keith kept on flicking his lit cigarette ‘Til Mick was all covered in ashes and sweat. They played on for hours, as if ev’ry note mattered Before winding up with a great version of “Shattered.” “Honky Tonk Women” served as an encore As I flicked my Bic, and yelled out for more! But Jagger announced “That’s the end of our show! We hope you enjoyed it! Now we gotta go!” And I heard him exclaim as he boarded their jet, “Many CDs to all, and to all a box set!”
