Britney Spears: 'Adele and Jessie J inspire me to do better'

Britney Spears has revealed that the success of UK pop stars such as Adele and Jessie J gives her the inspiration to improve.

Spears, who released her seventh studio album 'Femme Fatale' earlier this year, told Stylist that she enjoyed competing with newer stars as it made her "want to do better".

The singer, who caused controversy in London in October when she was accused of glamorising gun use and gang culture in the video for her single 'Criminal', which was filmed in Hackney, said: "I think it's great to have a little competition because I feel it inspires us [Team Britney] and makes us want to do better."

She went on to add:


Both Jessie J and Adele have enjoyed widespread success in 2011. J topped the BBC Sound Of 2011 poll in January and, after the release of her debut album 'Who You Are', went on to claim four gongs at this year's MOBO Awards.

Earlier this month, meanwhile, Adele's second album '21' became the first LP to sell a million copies on iTunes in Europe. The record is also the biggest selling digital album in US history, and her hit 'Someone Like You' is the first single to sell over a million copies in the UK this decade.

Britney turns 30 today.

Coincidentally, it was twelve years ago today that somebody first got on the internet and proclaimed that Britney "isn't as hot as she used to be."

Britney Spears sued by former security team

Britney Spears is being sued by her former security team for not paying a bill of more than $140,000 (£90,000), according to reports.

TMZ claims that the parties in charge of the 'Femme Fatale' star's estate have been hit with a lawsuit by Advanced Security Concepts Corporation, who have alleged that the singer and her team failed to pay them an outstanding fee of $141,625 (£91,294).

The security firm claim that although their contract with Spears was terminated a year early, her camp had previously agreed to pay for the final year of the contract even if they didn't use the service.

In 2009, Spears was sued by her former bodyguard Fernando Flores. He filed a suit for sexual harassment after alleging that she made unwanted sexual advances towards him and exposed herself naked to him. The singer's legal team dismissed the claims, however, while her ex-husband Kevin Federline described them as "baseless".

Earlier this year, meanwhile, Britney Spears and her father Jamie were sued for $10 million by the company which helped them to secure the deal for Britney's popular perfume range.

Britney Spears to marry for the third time

Britney Spears is set to marry for the third time, according to reports.

USA Today claim that the 'Femme Fatale' star was proposed to by her boyfriend and former agent Jason Trawick yesterday (December 15), the same day as his 40th birthday.

"This is something they've both wanted for a long time," a source said. "It's a way to cement their family. They're both extremely happy and can't wait to become man and wife."

Spears seemed to hint at the news herself, meanwhile, in a post on her Twitter account. She wrote:


Britney Spears has been married twice before. Her first marriage, to childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004, lasted just 55 hours before it was annulled. Later that year she married dancer Kevin Federline, but the pair split in 2007.

Last year, she and Trawick confirmed that they had ended their business relationship so they could begin a romance together.

First user reaches one million Google+ followers

If thinking about what Britney Spears is up to keeps you up all night, you'll be happy to know Spears has become the most popular person on Google+. In addition, she has become the first account to be included in more than one million circles.

It's almost enough to drive you crazy.

Spears overtook Google founder Larry Page, who had been the most circled user since the service launched, a few weeks ago at around 700,000 people. Page received a boost to around 900,000 followers in response, but it was not enough to stop Spears from continuing her claim to the top spot. Musician Snoop Dogg is hot on the heals of Page and may soon bump him down to third, on his own service.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and MySpace founder Tom Anderson, strangely, continue to rank in the top 10 most circled individuals. Unfortunately for Page's fellow Google founder Sergey Brin, he has continued to move down the ranking and is currently ranked 12th.

The one million follower battle and milestone is reminiscent of the battle between actor Ashton Kutcher and CNN, in their battle to become the most followed user on Twitter a few years back. Kutcher won that battle, however, Spears has since overtaken Kutcher on Twitter as well. Soon after the A+K/CNN battle, the popularity of Twitter exploded.

Currently Lady Gaga is the most popular figure on Twitter, with nearly 17 million followers. Justin Bieber comes in a close second with 15.4 million, while Kutcher today ranks 11th in with only 8.7 million.

Spears currently has over 11 million Twitter followers.

Britney Spears' ex-bodyguard planning tell all book

Britney Spears' former bodyguard, Fernando Flores, is planning to write a tell-all book, according to reports.

Flores is claiming to have inked a million-dollar deal with a publisher for a book which he says will dish the dirt on Spears' tours.

The Sun reports that former policeman Flores has told a friend that: "Britney has a huge sexual appetite and, from what she told me, her tours were an anything-goes environment... I heard stories of threesomes, orgies, girls making out - things that would make your hair stand on end."

He allegedly added that: "She had a lot of young, attractive dancers around her on tour, and things would get crazy. There was drinking, drugs, steamy sessions in hot tubs, all sorts of things."

Flores has previously tried to sue his former boss for sexual harassment. He filed a suit for sexual harassment after alleging that Spears made unwanted sexual advances towards him and exposed herself naked to him. The singer's legal team dismissed the claims, however, while her ex-husband Kevin Federline described them as "baseless".

To his new claims, Flores added: "I was in her bathroom and saw this picture of her in a tub with some girls. It was very sexual. She told me, 'That was on tour and shit got crazy'."

Britney Spears settles sexual harassment lawsuit with former bodyguard

Britney Spears has reached a settlement on a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by her former bodyguard Fernando Flores, according to reports.

TMZ says that the 'Femme Fatale' singer went before a private mediator to settle the case and that an agreement has now been reached. However, the terms of the settlement are unknown, and it has not been revealed if Spears was required to give Flores any financial compensation.

Flores first made his allegations in September 2010, when he filed papers at the Los Angeles Superior Court claiming that Spears had made unwanted sexual advances towards him and had also exposed herself naked towards him.

The bodyguard, who worked for Spears from February – July 2010, also alleged that the singer had had sex in front of him. However, Spears' legal team have always maintained that the accusations are untrue, while her ex-husband Kevin Federline also previously described them as "baseless".

In December last year, it was reported that Spears was being sued by her former security team Advanced Security Concepts Corporation, who alleged that failed to pay them an outstanding fee of $141,625 (£91,294).

She released her last studio album, 'Femme Fatale', in March last year. Last November, she claimed that the success of performers such as Jessie J and Adele inspired her to be a better performer.

Report: Britney Spears signs on for 'X Factor'

The speculation surrounding Britney Spears' rumored "X Factor" deal continued Thursday as reports suggest that the pop star has signed a contract to officially be a judge on the reality competition.

According to E!, Spears is set to join season 1 holdovers Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid when "The X Factor" returns to Fox in the fall.

The site reports that the pop star signed a deal this week to get $15 million for one season. A source tells E! that there's been "a lot of back and forth over the past few weeks as they negotiated small details, but she's on. It's all completed and Britney is beyond excited."

Spears' name has been one of the constants on the ever evolving list of stars Simon Cowell's said to be considering for the show. Earlier this year, season 1 "X Factor" judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul were dismissed from the show, and since then Cowell and his fellow judge Reid have said that they were looking primarily for two women who already had that "X" factor.

LeAnn Rimes, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry and Janet Jackson have all been mentioned as rumored options in addition to Spears, although Jackson confirmed that she had to pass.

Neither Spears' rep nor Fox is currently commenting on the reports that the pop star's sealed the deal, but if it's true, that would leave one spot open for another judge. (Cowell's also said he's on the hunt for two new hosts to replace prior host Steve Jones.)
