I heard someone recently use "tea" in a sentence and had to ask someone if that was some kind of slang I didn't understand. I felt pretty ignorant, because its use was not clear to me, even metaphorically.

All super common especially on social media, guess you are not a Facebook/ Instagram/ Snapchat guy.

GOAT - Greatest Of All Time, used a lot when Tom Brady is mentioned.

Oh no...don't mention this example to DanO. Maybe you should use Gastineau or Klecko instead.

The only one of these I've used regularly is hangry, and I suspect there's some social media alternative meaning out there I'm not aware of. But if you've ever felt that irrational anger because your hungry feeling, you know that hangry is a real thing.

But that's before I got woke, and peeped this thirsty bae who I totes wanted to bring into the fam. But after telling this gucci GOAT she was on fleek, she clapped back and ghosted me.

SMH.

Um, that's "OKurrrrrrrrrrr" to you. ;-)

The ones that annoy me the most, especially seeing them in print/text are:

Tryna
Turnt
Fire (as a replacement for "Hot" or "Cool" - "That's fire!")

"Spill the tea" has been used for decades in the gay community. I credit RuPaul for bringing it into the mainstream.

Shipping is one I saw and couldn't figure what it meant. So, urban dictionary to the rescue.........

Shipping
A verb used to describe the action of wishing for two people to enter a relationship (whether romantic or occasionally platonic) in books, movies, tv shows or real life. Shipping can often happen involuntarily, and it is the majority of what happens on the website, Tumblr. There are some very popular ships, some unpopular, as well as often lots of controversy between ships from the same fandom.

Influencer
A makeup, hairstyle, or fashion blogger who is instafamous only on Instagram or buys "followers" and "likes" and gets free products from companys who fall in their trap of fake fame.

Around our house, you apparently are supposed to end every sentence with "right?"

Also, the word "literally" should be abolished.

There's these twin brothers at work that are around 32 yrs old. They're always using that phrase when you talk to them.

I call them the Right Brothers. :D
