Chip Kinman, his brother and co-performer in The Dils, Rank and File, Blackbird, and Cowboy Nation, has reported that Tony Kinman passed away after being diagnosed with cancer in March. He also posted this song, which he says is the one that means the most to him.
RIP

RIP. I loved Rank And File, and Tony's amazing deep voice.
Me as well. RIP Tony and thanks for the 2 Rank and File albums..great records.
They actually did have a third one that came out on Rhino in 1987. But it really sounded like a different band, and if you were a fan of the Slash albums you might not dig it so much.

Wow, so sad to read this. Rank & File was one of my favorite bands on the Slash label and from that time period. Those back to back albums blew me away and I still play them often.
According to Chip Kinman, Omnivore is putting out a compilation of unreleased songs from Dils, Rank and File, Blackbird, and Cowboy Nation. Really looking forward to this one.
