SpongeBob's creator Stephen Hillenburg died a few days ago at the age of 57 from Lou Gehrig's disease, and just like when Gene Wilder died I feel like a part of my childhood has died along with him.
I didn't technically become a fan of SpongeBob's until around 2006 or so, a few years after the first SpongeBob movie was released, but in the twelve or so years I've been watching the show it's become one of my favorite kids shows ever. Thanks to constant repeats on Nick I've probably seen each episode dozens of times over, but yet they never get old to me. I know I'll continue watching SpongeBob reruns on tv, but now I'll be reminded that its wonderful creator is no longer with us.

Very sad news. His creation has delighted and continues to delight millions. My daughter and oldest son have both been Spongebob obsessive say times, and the show is often hilarious for adults as well.
