Scott Ballew, 1972-2019

A terrific drummer from the Bun E. Carlos/Keith Moon school, who helped to make The Shazam so much more than just another power pop group.

Wow, another sad loss. The Shazam are one of the most unheralded bands in rock. Man, someone needs to put out a box on these guys.

I'll need to spin some Shazam this W/E in tribute to Scott! Thanks Scott for all the great tunes and albums. RIP for our friend.

There's going to be a tribute gig in honour of Scott. No word yet on The Shazam's continued existence as a group after this:

The last concert poster in a long line of beautiful pop art and psychedelic creations:

There's no YouTube footage, at least not yet, but Hans Rotenberry stated that the Scott Ballew tribute gig would be The Shazam's final show. Former bassist Mick Wilson filled in on drums as the spirit of Scott looked on (projected behind the stage):

There were no holograms, just genuine love and respect.

Hans said that does intend to finish The Shazam's next (also final?) album, the long-awaited Doomsday Hotel.
