My God, another one today. I had seen Molly Hatchet a few times in the 80's and those guys really put on a rock in show.

RIP Dave.

Saw them on the Flirtin' tour. They opened for the Outlaws (and blew them away).

RIP

I went to that link Rick provided and then to Wikipedia to see who's left of the classic lineup. They're all dead except for Steve Holland (guitar).

The current edition of MH is an abomination.

Wow! And The Outlaws were so great but you saw the tour that M.H. on the map. Being here in Florida I got to see them a few times and never, ever was disappointed.

They always kicked it up a notch and bands sharing the same bill knew they had to step it up. :ohyes:

The only time I got to see Molly Hatchet was at the Nassau Coliseum on Feb 19 1979 when they opened for The Outlaws. Southern Rock was big on LI at the time and that concert was broadcast on WLIR.

Just remember that Molly Hatchet was one smokin' band!

RIP

Yeah, living in N.J. at the time Southern Rock was really big in the NY Metro area. Of course moving to Florida only increased the intensity of those bands.

Especially with the Southern boys. I had a lot of fun with them back in the day, they knew how to party. :ohyes:

Great band, although I loved The Outlaws far more but seeing both would've been amazing.

One thing is for sure...if you are in a Southern Rock band, you won't live long.

What a shame for that genre.

The Outlaws were touring on the newly released In the Eye of the Storm. What was sad was that before they came out (as headliners), half the arena had left. That told me that those folks were there for MH only.

And yeah, MH literally owned Minneapolis/St. Paul that night. Absolutely storming set.

Oh.... I forgot to mention who was the 3rd guy on the bill as the opener..... Johnny Cougar. I Need A Lover was getting airplay then. Little did anyone know.......
