First I have to admit I love the album and I have it on lp, cd and cassette...and a couple of cd versions...i have been filling in gaps in some of the artists I collect and I have gotten to Meat Loaf. I never knew how many versions, sequels live recordings and different versions (excerpts of) Bat Out of Hell there are.

Has any artist took one theme and did more with it?

the doors - all 6 studio albums

between regular CD's, gold Cd's. box sets and compilations, i can't imagine anyone else even being close.

not even elvis. elvis had a ton of albums in his lifetime, so his comps are spread out over a lot of music.

it has to be those 6 albums.

Never Mind the Bollocks...For a band with 1 album and a bunch of singles, there's a whole lot of Sex Pistols music out there.

I positively expected it!

Oldfield, of course, has recorded lots of great music in his career, aside from Tubular Bells.

Sir Mix-A-Lot has gotten years out of "Baby Got Back."

He knew what he was doing though.

Moving out of rock.............

Mozart or Beethoven would be the winner.

In jazz, Ellington or Armstrong (numerous re-recordings of numerous titles) & Calloway (Minnie The Moocher)

Don McLean's "American Pie" always comes to me. Even though I also really loved "Vincent", I could just never forget the album and song "American Pie", not only on how often if was played, but also its place in culture.

Unless I am missing something, think those are all "cover" versions by other artists since neither lived during the era of recorded sound.

RIngo Starr- "With A Little Help From My Friends".

I suppose that when he started touring in 1989, this became his theme song.
