Banned??? Moi???
While waiting for Green Day to take the stage on July 1 at Hyde Park, London, 65,000 fans spontaneously harmonized when "Bohemian Rhapsody" was played over the PA. Spine-tingling.

This is so kick ass
I've participated in something similar with about 15,000, as Judas Priest uses War Pigs as their pre-intro start, and I would say that 75% of the audience sing every word. But it's not 65.000, and it's not Bohemian Rhapsody in Hyde Park, where that song is close to religious in its importance

Hussongs Cantina in Ensenada. Had to sneak back in to get my boombox!
That is really cool. Especially since Green Day and Queen are from such different eras, stylistically and chronologically. I think the song came out long before many of Green Day's fans were born.
Something of that nature happened to me and Rebecca in 2001 that was very moving.
Shortly after 9/11 (and just days after the news of the anthrax attacks) we were all kind of wondering if it was safe to go out to public events with large gatherings of people. We had tickets for the opening of the Opera season at the Lyric Opera House in downtown Baltimore. Otello by Giuseppe Verdi on 9/22/2001. We said F the b--tards and went as planned. About five minutes before show time the conductor came out and announced that they were going to do something that they had never done before a performance in the past. The orchestra then played the Star Spangled Banner.
Now this was a sold out house packed with opera enthusiasts, a large percentage who were actually quite impressive singers in their own right. We all started singing, the whole crowd as loud as we could. I looked around and tears were streaming down everyone's cheeks. You could clearly hear the voices of a whole range of real opera singers in the crowd belting this out. It was intense and I'll never forget it.

Green Day covered "We Are The Champions" at Live 8 in Germany in 2005, so their fans are well aware of who Queen is (is there a music fan who doesn't know who they are?)
Iron Maiden use UFO's "Doctor Doctor" for every show before they come on and it always seems I'm the only who knows what it is.
Damn kids.
Get off my lawn.

I worked in music retail from 1977-1997 and I just checked out UFO's Doctor Doctor on youtube. I've never heard it before. But I've been reading recent threads here about UFO in wonder because I don't really recall even selling many of their albums over the years. We always stocked them, but they just sat. Maybe it's a regional thing. That's why I like music boards- I get exposed to things I've overlooked. And sorry about your lawn!

Ha ha, my lawn is fine.
UFO were always a big act in the US, but never hit the "supergroup" level.
But, Lights Out was their peak and hit #23 on the charts and sold over 400,000 copies.
They had several radio hits in the US and placed 11 albums on the charts and still tour here.
I believe UFO had a much bigger following in the Midwest and Southwest (especially Texas) than anywhere else, so if you were in certain parts where they for whatever reason didn't get much airplay or toured, than you may not have been aware of them.

Yeah, UFO isn't as popular with Maiden fans as Sabbath is with Priest fans. Of course, I've been through that multiple times at Maiden shows, and since I recently bought a UFO two-fer and a concert ticket for them in October, I'm much more familiar with them than I used to be.

The Bohemian Rhapsody thing was amazing - gave me.chills watching it.
About the closest thing I can remember - and it's not even that close - is seeing Billy Joel do "Goodnight Saigon" on the Nylon Curtain tour on Veteran's Day.
