This has got to be the wave of the future, for records companies to "prod" us to purchase (yet again) another comp on our fave artists. I don't mind this at all, I welcome it with open arms, if done right. Recent ones by The Doors, Seals & Crofts, Firefall, The Rascals, The 5th Dimension, Steppenwolf, The Mamas & Papas, The Carpenters, The Turtles, just to name a few, some (though) unfortunately with obvious gaffs.

I throw it out to YOU: which artists should next be up on deck with a "Complete Singles A's & B's" to tickle our fancies?

Ready? Go !!

It'd be a way they could get me to buy another comp by ABBA and the Monkees. The Lovin' Spoonful would be a natural.

Some new wave era ones--add in some foreign-language versions:

Adam Ant
The Fixx
REM
The Alarm
Eurythmics
Culture Club
Cyndi Lauper

Iron Maiden. But it can't be A's and B's compiled in a five or six disc set. It needs to be a "complete singles" set which would probably be about 45 discs, essential to get reproductions of all the original Derek Riggs sleeves!

For this concept to do much for me, their needs to either be an artist who all of their quality work was on singles, or alternatively an artist with tons of cool unreleased b sides.

This is a frightening thought. What trend comes after this- compilations of album only songs that were never singes?

Frank Zappa...many singles, not many hits but most have unique edits or mixes.
Also the b side Jr Mintz Boogie has never been released on either vinyl or cd.

i'll never understand dave clark....the "history" 2 CD set that came out years ago was wonderful, it is now OOP and clark will not issue anything else. it really doesn't make any sense.

I remember when that compilation came out, ICE had a big story, maybe even the front page in which they spoke to Dave and he was going on and on about all of the DC5 releases that were going to follow this one.

Still waiting....

Sting. He has a ton of non-album b-sides that have never been collected.

Since the labels seem hell-bent on releasing compilations anyway, a series of "deep cuts" collections might actually be a nice change of pace, especially for casual fans who want to dig a little deeper or those just getting into a particular group or artist.

Absolutely! I would also add Chicago, Paul Simon, Doobies (you could do one just focusing on Patrick Simmons and I'd be happy), XTC, Joe Jackson. They all have great album cuts that were never hits.

Johnny Rivers. However, getting his approval may be a problem.

There are two very good Johnny Rivers 2-CD anthologies (one from Rhino, the other from Shout Factory), but both are OOP and command collectors' prices these days.

They are good, but they don't contain the original mono 45-versions for the applicable singles.

i have this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000008K1F/?tag=imwan-20

and its one CD, however, i doubt there are any b-sides on it at all.

For both artists, they need to include all of the dance remixes as well.

Most of the Prince b-sides (at least through the 80's (which is where I stopped caring until 3rd Eye Girl) have come out on cd; the 3 cd first best of had a lot of them as does the Purple Rain DE.

Their are a lot of scattered official internet singles, especially 3rd Eye Girl.
