It's been 21 years, but as you can tell from my avatar, I'm feeling pretty happy right about now. Now if the hometown Patriots (I live in New England these days) can hold on to their halftime lead, it will be Super Bowl XX all over again. Either way, I'm guaranteed someone to cheer for. Life is good!

As an ex-South Sider still coming down from the high of the 2005 White Sox, I too am thrilled to see the Bears back in the Super Bowl!

I would love to see a rematch against the Pats as well; not just a rematch of Super Bowl XX, but a rematch of a great game played earlier this season on N.E.'s turf.

But as I type this, the Colts have just tied that game up at 21, so I won't get too far ahead...

Way to go Bears! Good luck in Miami!

It looks like the Patriots, a team that's getting older, particularly on defense, just ran out of gas. Congratulations to the Colts for a tremendous comeback. I'm sure that the Colts will be significant favorites in the Super Bowl.

Is the original Bears' version of Super Bowl Shuffle available on CD? If it is, I'd like to get a copy.

I'm not kidding.

Gary: Copies of this book came with a CD single of the original "Super Bowl Shuffle." It looks like it's still in print, and the link says it still includes the CD. AFAIK, this is the only place to find it on CD.

Even worse was my Philadelphia Eagles singing "Buddy's Watching You" (about insane head coach Buddy Ryan, an ex-Bears coach of course) from 1988. I have the God-awful music video to prove it.
The "Super Bowl Shuffle" is pretty brutal and sadly I have that video too!

Gotta love the Colts somehow covering the spread today-woo-hoo!

Now that the Eagles are out of it I could care less who wins, but I think Indy will not be stopped. Rex Grossman blows chunks.
Looking forward to Prince at halftime of the Super Bowl! No nip-slip I hope.

Boy was I happy to see the Pats blow that huge lead...and I don't even like the Colts. I don't care for the Manning family and what I perceive as their "We're above the NFL" attitude. I hope none of them ever win a Super Bowl. But nothing could be worse for me than watching Belichick hoist another trophy. Part of me would like Tony Dungy to win one, though.

I don't think Da Bears have much of a chance with their ultra-shaky QB, but I hope they can pull it out.

Obviously my loyalties run Bears, but I live in New England and like the Pats too. This was just a case of the team running out of steam. The Chargers game took a lot out of them and whatever they had left after that was attacked by a flu bug that was going around the team this week. On top of that, their defense is getting older, which doesn't help matters any. The run that the Colts went on in the second half was partially due to the Pats running out of gas, but I have to hand it to the Colts, they hung in there. I just hope that the Bears can do what they did to the last high-powered offense they faced, the Saints, in two weeks. We'll see. I'm mostly just excited that they made it again.

Dan,

Just curious what you mean by this. Is it related to Eli and the San Diego situation? Peyton has always struck me as a pretty humble and hard-working guy, all things considered.

Jay,

Now remember, I wrote "what I perceive" with regard to my feelings. Understand that this is coming from a lifelong frustrated NY Jets fan.

The Jets had the first pick in the draft when Peyton was originally thinking of entering the NFL. Word in the New York media at the time was that dad Archie didn't want his son to play for the Jets and thus convinced him to stay at Tennessee for another year. Now I actually applaud those who choose to finish college and wait for the NFL, but I was really angry at the supposed reasoning behind it. The Jets had just gone through the Rich Kotite era (and a 1 - 15 record) and we were really looking forward to Peyton returning us to repectability.

I began to soften my stance as the years went by (especially after the Jets whipped Peyton & the Colts 41-0 in the 2002 playoffs) until the Eli draft situation came to pass. In my eyes, there was Archie Manning again pulling strings to force the Chargers into a trade with the Giants because he didn't want his son to play for San Diego. The whole thing just ticked me off (especially since I would also root for the Giants - as long as they weren't playing the Jets). Now I can't root for the Giants anymore (until Eli is gone).

I so want Philip Rivers to turn out better than Eli now.

Maybe this is all in my head, Jay, but I can't shake it. I just cannot root for the Mannings......unless they are playing against Belichick (this is another crazed jealousy of mine. Bill Belichik was the head coach of the Jets for a half day until his infamous resignation letter: "I resign as the HC of the NYJ".)

The Jets could've had Peyton Manning and Bill Belichick running the organization, but were backstabbed by both.

Color me bitter and angry.

But at least I am absolutely thrilled with Eric Mangini (the winner of AFC coach of the year, by the way)! I think the future is bright!

Jay, are you sorry you asked?
