Inspired by my comment in the Van Halen thread about going out with Sammy, I thought it might be interesting to see what kind of concert line ups could be created as people move from one band to another. of course, these would likely never happen due to the personalities involved and unfortunately, some of them have passed away, but it's still interesting to wonder what could have been. So, here's two to get us going

The Van Halen Family Tree:
Extreme
Van Halen w/ Chrerone
Van Halen w/ Dave
Van Halen w/ Sammy
Sammy Hagar
Montrose

The Birth of Metal Family Tree:
Whitesnake
Deep Purple Mark III
Deep Purple Mark II
Rainbow
Dio
Heaven and Hell
Black Sabbath
Ozzy Osbourne

i'm sure there's others out there. any thoughts?

Just to expand on these...

Starting with Van Halen, add:

Chickenfoot
Red Hot Chili Peppers
David Lee Roth
Winery Dogs
Steve Vai
Frank Zappa
Missing Persons
Duran Duran
Journey
The Turtles
Adrian Belew
King Crimson
The Bears
Z
Dethklok

And you can tie this side to the BoMFT via Vai. Come to think of it, via just Rudy Sarzo in Ozzy's band, you can tie the BoMFT to just about every band in the universe, past, present and future.

I started to try to chart out a degrees of separation/family tree for Yes, but it ripped open a hole in the fabric of spacetime.

So I stopped.
