did ayone watch the kennedy center honors show the other night?

it wasn't bad, the tributes were very well done and some nice guests to do the honoring.

but i was taken aback by only 3 eagles being there, henley, walsh and schmit....no leadon, meisner or felder. :sigh:

glenn frey's wife was there also ( i assume it was his wife, could have been his daughter i guess)

Watched the Eagles stuff on YouTube - I forgot it was on. Only the four official Eages were honored - Frey, Henley, Walsh & Schmidt. I guess it's like the RRHOF - someone decides who makes the cut. The Eagles were supposed to get it last year, but asked to be deferred a year because Frey was sick and they hoped he'd be recovered by now.

I watch this show every year. A couple of days after Christmas, CBS always airs a 2-hour roundup of the Kennedy Center Honors ceremonies that are held at the White House earlier in December. It's one nice way for me to unwind a bit after the hectic holidays.

IMO, this year's show was one of the better ones. Actually, the show has been really good for the last 2 or 3 years.

The Eagles were supposed to receive this award last year, but Glenn Frey was ill and they were hoping he would recover for the 2016 ceremony. Sadly, that didn't happen.

I doubt that Don Felder will ever appear with the band again. (Doubtful that the band itself will ever appear again.) The "History of the Eagles" documentary made it very clear that Frey and Henley (especially Frey) had crossed Felder off the list and it doesn't look like Frey's death changed anything in that regard.

i understand, but when getting an honer like this one, a career-spanning honor, i just think that anyone and everyone who was responsible should be there, probably even stuart smith.

It works the same way as the Hall of Shame, so it's every bit as bogus, arbitrary and stupid in terms of who gets to be a part of it.

I thought "Life In the Fast Lane" was a rather risqué closing number for such a staid affair.

They knew all the right people
they took all the right pills...

Smith was there, but as a performer, not an honoree.
