First post here - I hope the topic hasn't been already discussed (..?), and, once and for all, pardon my english.
A few months ago, I decided to start a Chuck Berry collection, and the first album I purchased was the expanded Chess cd of the "After School Session" lp. Not only did the cd benefit from state-of-art remastering, extra tracks and quality booklet (and liner notes) but I also noticed it was part of the so-called "Rock'n'Roll 50th Anniversary" series, which led me to think that it would be the ideal way of collecting his work: in my mind, the cd was part of a complete or almost-complete covering of his career (at least the classic first decade).
Actually, to the best of my knowledge, the only other disc in the collection is the expanded edition of "St. Louis To Liverpool" (another must-have). Can you confirm that no other cds (companion volumes) were released, do you know why, and, by any chance, is there any plan to continue the collection? If I understand well, all i have to do is purchase some BGO two-fers to get the rest of the best?
Those BGO twofers are original British compilations, not original American Chess albums. I own every Chess recording by Chuck Berry, but they hardly ever surface on CD. Realistically, if you want to bury yourself in Berry, the 3-CD MCA box set is the way to go.
