Animals is a....well, a different beast. ;)

It's my favourite Pink Floyd album because of the guitar playing on it, because I heard it when I was sixteen and became obsessed with getting an electric guitar. I understand why people love the earlier stuff more, and I love it too, but Animals is unique.

I do agree that nothing Waters has done since leaving Pink Floyd comes close to anything Pink Floyd did after he left, though.

You seem to be arguing against a false assumption. I've never heard of any Pink Floyd fans disliking Animals. It's almost always listed in the top 5 (of 15) Floyd albums when you read reviews and ranking lists, and everyone I know would put it in the top three.
I do agree with your point though, it's certainly their most aggressive and electric guitar-driven album!

The guitar work is fantastic and it's the heaviest by far but it's also only a few very long tracks and quite nonsensical. :)

To me the top 5 are Meddle, Pompeii soundtrack, Wish You Were Here, The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon.

Nonsensical? It's essentially an updated version of Orwell's Animal Farm. Easy to make sense out of it.

I like Animals but it's not my fave. For me personally, it's a radical departure from DSOTM and WYWH. The Wall kinda settled back into those two classics but not quite. It had all the weirdness of mid-70s Floyd though.

The key to Animals and The Wall is they're mostly Roger's creations.

I really wish Roger and the guys had taken a well-deserved and long break after The Wall. Get away from each other for a longer time span. Who knows what we would've gotten from them?

But Roger's personality and aggressiveness wouldn't allow it.

Considering how Waters fucked over Richard Wright, the break should've come before The Wall.

Those are all regurgitated quotes. After clicking through, not surprised to see Far Out as the source... they went full negative clickbait a while ago.

Maybe recycled would be a better word... there was no new reporting in this article.

For example, Waters' comments on Momentary Lapse date back to the album's release over 30 years ago.

WYWH is only a few short tracks and quite nonsensical.

To be fair, mot of Pink Floyd is nonsensical on purpose. Sounds great though :)

That must have been some slow burning fire.
